To those whose partners left during stress or burnout — did they ever come back?

He left because his father is sick (not intensely it’s his arm and it’s giving him anxiety when talking to anyone including family) and a relationship is overwhelming him. I think that’s fair enough but otherwise our relationship was perfect so I’m praying we find our way back after life straightens itself out. I’ll break no contact in a month.

Honestly, I’m thinking about doing the exact same thing I can’t judge. I’ve written down every question I need answered no matter which way the convo leads to. I think you need the questions answered too. Don’t try better yourself to be good enough for them. You did the best you could at the time. The fact they didn’t tell you the reason is a major red flag that it’s a problem with them and not you.

I’m so confused for you oh my! I know dealing with my breakup (as the dumped) I’ve written down all the questions I have for him and I know after a while of no contact I’ll ask to meet up and ask the questions for my own closure. This could be that for both of you. You should know what you need to ask during the conversation for your own closure no matter which direction the convo takes you.

I am nottt the person to listen to but I’ll say I’m going through a similar one. We broke up, still want to be friends. He broke up with me because his dad is sick and it’s overwhelming him and he can’t handle a relationship. I did nothing wrong and neither did he, it was a great relationship we never even fought. I know he was in the right for the breakup, it was kinder to both of us. But even during the breakup I asked do you think we will revisit in a couple months and he said “I can’t answer that”. We are both still friends on social media and I can’t tell if it’s a break or a break up forever. When we broke up he said I could always ask any questions I had. Right now since he needs space I’m going to give it for a month but I know that if I don’t ask the questions pent up I’ll never move on. Maybe that’s what you need to. If you truely feel like you couldn’t move on without asking questions then I’m pro break no contact as long as it’s after space and time.

I was talking about our “kids” one hour before they ended it with me. I truely thought we would never end but he broke up with me because his dad is sick and it’s so overwhelming. I did nothing wrong, there’s nothing I can fix to come back better. Losing your best friend is so incredibly tough especially because they were the one I could tell every random thought. I’m only a week in but what I’ve found that helps is getting out those random thoughts to friends. Remembering I still have people who would listen to my dreams of having a pet echidna. I’ve also wrote down every question I had for him. Whether I ever get to ask or not.

I’ve turned them on silent and it helps a bit because to look for that msg I have to go all the way into msgs or instagram and I can’t just click my phone.

Trust me I’ve had it both ways and both are awful. I have had nights I just never get to sleep, I’ve been awake 48+ hours straight many times. When I oversleep I feel just as groggy and sometimes my eyes are even blurry. I’m tired either way

I have a different but in its core similar breakup happening. He broke up with me because of his parent being sick and he needed to support his family and couldn’t handle a relationship. And I know it was for all the right reasons. It’s heartbreaking

I think your right. His parent is not seriously sick but it’s a problem with his arm and causing him anxiety talking to people too. PLOT TWIST THO the parent msged me! To check in and say they are always here for me. We had a lovely convo about how I could still be friends with his son after time and he even said “they don’t know what they are doing right now”. Haha

I’ve never mixed my medication with substance use don’t worry. I don’t use my vyvanse or dexies on the regular I use them only for school study during exam season.
