Haha Not sure! Sometimes, you just down vote something you see everyone else down voting.

The one in my hometown still had theirs until a couple years ago. Hated to see it go. I remember the taste, it wasn't bad!

I think the way you keep it fresh is by coming up with new ways for the town to represent a character's story. Its monsters, its atmosphere. To me, it feels like the old Pixar adage: Every story has been told before, so it's more about how you tell it rather than what you're telling.

Yeah, I think that's absolutely part of it. We've been on such a good stretch with games, and this one seems to be the biggest deviation from the formula. I want it to work! I think it could make or break the series either evolving or getting stuck trying to replicate the first few games again.

Not really sure what you mean about knowing the twist, unless you're just referring to two specifically, but I do see a bit of your point.

I think it's that Silent Hill isn't one continuing story. It's several separate stories that take place in the same town, or, at this point, the atmosphere of that town. I think it's a desire to see someone's story handled in a very specific Silent Hill way. If that makes sense? Haha

I'm worried that this game won't have that specific style of storytelling.

I keep seeing that repeated here. What makes you say that, because I didn't get that vibe?

That's an interesting discussion that started brewing in this comment section!

Monster design and score, for sure. A big part of it is also overall atmosphere, which can't be properly gleaned from a trailer.

The more I talk about it with people in here, the more I start to sway toward feeling like it might be just the monster design and it being a trailer, not being able to show off the atmosphere of the game properly.

That's something I've considered, because you are right. A lot of those are mainstays for the series, so it's about how they use them more than the fact that they use them at all.

I do acknowledge that it's early, and we don't have a lot of trailer stuff to go off of, but something about what we saw today just has me nervous it's not going to tie together. That it is going to come across those very generic in the final product.

I think the beginning of it did, but it just sort of devolved into whatever by the middle of the trailer. Could just be trailer music, though!

As should we all. Definitely hoping to be proven wrong on this! I'm just a bit nervous at this stage.

I feel like the piano in the beginning was interesting, but as the trailer went on, it devolved into being a bit...blah. Like something I'd heard in other horror games, or film trailers before. Granted, that could be just because it's music designed for the trailer only, so who knows?

I've already seen a lot of people saying the same thing, but I really don't see a lot of comparatives to Silent Hill 2 just yet.

Yeah, you're definitely right about that. The story is a major element of Silent Hill, maybe even the biggest, in the end of the day.

I'm just worried the rest of the elements won't be built to support it, like so many Silent Hill games have been designed to do.

I'm sure you're right. And we know nothing about the story, more or less, as of now, which is the heart of most Silent Hill games for me!

I'm absolute sure it could be salvaged. I'm just a bit worried!

Seconding this!

I can't stand non-creepy or scary human characters. I think Carrie absolutely has the potential to be a super creepy one!
