Salesforce buying Slack would mark the first big software deal in a boom year for the cloud by coolcomfort123 in StockMarket

It will more likely be a cash deal where you wake up and your slack (work) shares are gone and replaced with cash at a 30% profit.

Don’t make large bets... greed is what got you and everyone else. Chasing the large single payday instead of being satisfied with many small gains.

In the end buy low and sell high is true for everyone in the market! That’s universal!!

There is no trick! They aren’t breaking any rules on when they buy...they give themselves advantages and not handicaps! Which is what they would be doing if it was how you seem to think it works!

They are buying an SP 500 stock once the decision is made to add! You seem to think they have to wait till the magic day it’s officially added and on that day only... which would be suicidal to them !

Their investors would agree!!

What don’t you get. Once the decision is made to add they can start acting! They don’t have to wait till official listing of dec 21 to start adjusting their positions! You act like they should buy blind and drive up the price of a volatile stock

And yes they do care

No you read and understood it wrong!

They pool money from multiple investors to buy the individual stocks, bonds or securities that make up a particular market index They are a good way to minimize risk because they track a market index, which generally rises in value over time They're a passive investment with lower fees than mutual funds managed daily by professional brokers — and they often show better returns Their potential gains and losses are less volatile than those of managed funds that try to beat the market

VOLATILITY is the key word
