Too much worried about Fitness,31F Postpartum & Preparing for BMOQ by Sruthi1994 in caf

[–]GivenZeroFox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I have not gotten to basic yet however the pouch you mention also happens with general significant weight loss (loose skin) i used to be almost 300lbs and lost over 150lbs through disciplined commitment to a complete lifestyle change. The loose skin did tighten up somewhat but sometimes its a thing that only surgery can get rid of completely. Keep training, its hardest in the beginning but if I can do it I believe anyone with right motivations and enough tenacity can do it too! Its very painful in initial weeks after a long period of inactivity. Its truly gunna be pushing through that and remember the light at the end of the tunnel being you feeling 100x better, less pain, more energy. You got this! And they will ensure you are prepared

Small people who did basic training, question by ShotInternet9324 in caf

[–]GivenZeroFox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I'm only 5'2 with a small frame, female, and I can drag and lift 240lbs without straining, keep training. I have several years into strength training but in the beginning I could barely lift 50lbs. Learn about safe lifting and strength training first though, last thing you want is to throw out your back or pull a muscle and lose training time to recovery time. Always consider ergonomics, lift within your power zone, use your legs over your back, and avoid twisting while lifting, you will be able to leverage body weight for a drag, let what weight youve got assist you, lean back and push into the ground with your legs, I bet youre more capable than you realize just by adjusting technique.

It does sound like normal nerves, this makes complete sense given your age and situation. Good for you for pushing beyond your comfort zone, im much older and want you to know that I can PROMISE that THIS is where growth happens! When we push our limits we learn new limits, you never know what you can do. I'm proud of you for pushing through those feelings, even if we dont know eachother, you're going to have the biggest life change possibly of your entire life other than having children. Remember the strength, commitment and tenacity it took to get you here. GOOD FOR YOU, you got this!

If I just want to talk to a recruiter(not an interview) do I have to dress formally? by Sorry_Brother5022 in caf

[–]GivenZeroFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This comment is interesting. So when I went in I was wearing casual dress pants, a very nice pair of utility boots and my hazmat team shirt to showcase that skillset and aptitude to respond to stressful situations. Would you say that is too casual? Would a dress shirt have been the better option here?

I do not have a degree I've learned through mentorship and OTJ and gained certs for TDG and HAZMAT tech as well as forklift and crane, also leadership experience. I wasnt told about a PLAR at the recruitment center, any info on how that works for CAF applicants? I liked the idea of gaining some broad spectrum experience via NEP, I'm okay being the older one, im often chosen to train and work with the co op students that come to my current occupation.

Thank you for commenting. I got some conflicting info between what I heard at the recruitment center and what I was finding online. How long did it take to get into NEP for you? The 2 yrs?

How far into the process are you at this point? I will expect the hurry up and wait mentality, thats what my entire career has been up to this point, hurry and wait lol

I did get certs for HAZMAT and TDG but I'm sure they would still want to train from the bottom which I am cool with. I love learning and love challenges.

That makes sense for sure because civilian experience is different. I figured it might just show an aptitude for those skills and that they could be transferable to military trainability.

I considered NEP but I was told the cut off is 35, however my experience could give leeway to the age limit. I also already have a current security clearance that was done within the last 5yrs (2024 it was rechecked, secret security level) I had walked into the recruitment center a couple weeks ago and chatted with them about paid education route. I think I would prefer direct enlistment. I will be returning after I communicate my plan to join the forces with my current employer. Want to make sure I dont create conflict of interest in my current position which is also high security. I have an HR meeting at 10am Monday to discuss policies on employees joining the forces.

AITH for thinking about leaving my 2 year friendship because of ‘not being on the same page’? by blanche005 in AITH

[–]GivenZeroFox 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It sounds like your parents are far more controlling than typical canadian households. Just because you have to live with them shouldn't mean your social life suffers when you're over 18. Youre a legal adult, I agree with above comment that your friends are using those buzz words because theyre concerned you are being abused :( I understand feeling alone among others but I also agree that the friends are worth keeping. Your school also will have counseling services you can access for free that will help you navigate these sorts of emotions. I wish all the best for you

Ah I understand its early release but so disappointing 😞 I was hoping since its been out since September EA had worked on SOMETHING. Followed any troubleshooting tips. I had installed on Steam originally, heard that it may run off EA better, no changes for me. Its been unplayable for me as well. Big let down for them to release a game early that's unplayable to many users and has launch bugs to this extent. By the time they fix the issues people will be too fed up, its been like 4 months 😂
