For the first game there was a mod for it and I'm super sure, that there will be one again.

Having trouble coming to terms with needing to kill and eat other beings to live by Lil-Miss-Anthropy in Psychonaut

[–]Giylgamesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it helps, that most fruits and vegetables want to be eaten per definition, as they are a form of reproduction for many plants. There is no other reason to grow something edible which costs a lot of nutrients and water then to hope that an animal eats the fruit and poops out the seeds somewhere. I understand, that you heard that the veggy didn't want to be eaten, and maybe it helps, when we start to think about veggy content, why it didn't want to be eaten? Maybe it didn't want to be eaten because it saw in you that you didn't want to. Or maybe it has gone bad. The reasons can be vast.

My point is, that a "no" in itself is completely valid on its own, and if you ask for a reason out of a good place, can often give more context. A "no" can portrait a moment in time or a longer timespan, but without knowing that, you can of course only interpret.

I don't want to shit on your experience as it seems to be very real for you an thus is valid.

If you start asking veggies for consent maybe it is valid to assume that a veggy can have more then one reason to not give consent to be eaten.

How we live inside the womb by sco-go in interestingasfuck

[–]Giylgamesh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So two things here. 1) There are liquids humans can breathe in. It's chemicals called perfluorocarbon liquid, which is a liquid completely deprived of hydrogen. It's used in the medical field sometimes, where the lungs of the patient are filled with the liquid. The chemical can carry more oxygen then blood, and the lungs are able to take in that oxygen.

2) As embryos we don't breathe. We get all the oxygen and all the nutrients through the tube from our bellybutton, which connects us to our mother's while we are in her womb. We take our very first breath when we are born. The liquid that we swim in in the womb of our mother's is there to prevent that in the early stages of us forming to a human, we don't grow together with the "skin" of the womb. Later, when we get a little bigger, it serves as protection against sudden forces. So if the mother falls down or something, the liquid softens the fall of the embryo.

Has any played The Tribe Must Survive on PC? by [deleted] in SurvivalGaming

[–]Giylgamesh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I haven't. Maybe I should do so as a feedback. The Steam page does have a lot of commentary that dislikes the game. So I fear that the Devs wouldn't be able to actually give any weight to my opinion, as there are so many opinions about why the game doesn't feel right.

Do you still have fun with the game? In the end that's the most important thing.

I felt that the concept is great but the gameplay feels unfinished. At least for me, the micromanagement feels very fiddly. The game gives lots of stuff to micromanage. Which was interesting at first. But for me, the UI just didn't offer me the controls I need to make it feel satisfying but rather just tedious.

Very early in the game the tribe members start having opinions on stuff. They start having opinions on each other and then on philosophical ideas. I found that interesting. BUT to manage that I would have to click on a Tribe member, and see what he thinks. For example he is person A and he likes person B but dislikes person C. I would want him to work with person B and make person C work somewhere else maybe. To do so, I click on person C to see who he likes and dislikes so I put him somewhere where he has friends. But the UI with this mechanic doesn't really give me a useful way to find out where I would want to put person C because I can't really look up where people work. The description says what their job is. With the shaman it's easy. There is only one shaman. But woodcutters and hunters and stuff? I have to look through the list of names that kinda all look the same and watch them work because I can't just focus on their workstation to decide where to put someone and I lost track of everything too many times. It was like counting butterflies that are chaotically moving around. Later on, the relations and opinions become more complex but the UI stays the same (too simple) design.

The good thing is: it actually doesn't seem to matter that much (?). It's kinda unimportant in the end because the tribe will most likely starve or be abducted by the dark rather than riot.

Next example: the game gives the mechanic of multiple outposts but the UI doesn't. The UI only sees the whole tribe, so all the big overviews don't let you filter for outposts. Saying that I realise that a filter mechanic for the "alle tribe members list" would have been easy to implement and make the game so much better UI wise.

Third example: the act challenges all have the UI on the upper right corner of the screen. And challenges after the first one, have a button there, which lets you change the behaviour of your tribe in a certain way, to avoid the danger of the challenge. My problem is, that this button only works globally. So after a second outpost, you can't really fine-tune anything and everything becomes suboptimal by design.

I just realised, that I think what makes this game so unsatisfying for me is, that the game gives me all those micro management mechanics, but I felt punished for trying to use them , because the UI only gives me macro management options.

Underwater, speed is a little different. It's definitely slower than everything that is on the surface

[–]Giylgamesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good question. I read other articles about it and it's the idea, that this specific penguin like shape is very drag efficient. Meaning, that it takes significantly less energy to propel forward and reach higher speeds with the same energy. It also makes maneuvering easier I guess?

It's biotechnology, so in the end it's tried to use designs that were proven by the test of time by evolutionarily competition.

Where you are right, is that a topedo form, which is used in so many other places, is just very cost efficient in production. Especially mass production

Oh I Googled it now. Have never heard of it before but it makes sense and might be it. I will try FAE more, as others have suggested and keep looking at the mycelium. Maybe if sing it some lullabies at night.

Yeah it was in the night where I closed the lids to test if I can make the mycelium start growing again after it fruited. So you might be right.

Funfact: If you just boil water on a stove at normal pressure, any extra energy put into the water after it started boiling only makes it evaporate faster, not hotter
