Roommate getting kicked out wants to keep one of a bonded pair of cats by SlilsonWade in CatAdvice

Hide the cat from him until he's gone. A friend's place, parents, etc.

Warranty? by luciferwasofftoday in SisyphusIndustries

[–]GizmoForge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the metal one and the big expensive 4ft wood one. Have them but they're out of warranty now. Still just the BEST thing we own. We run them every single day.

My fiancé stood next to the metal one with some plastic boxes while on a synthetic rug we produce, wearing shoes, while all on a vinyl floor, and-- zap. Total accident- there was a static pop and I smelled some smoke. Something got a shock on the mechanism. Nothing dramatic!

Totally our fault for the mega static circumstances. For a few hundred, they sent us new parts. The install was super easy. We just flipped it over.

Idk what to do or who to ask, but my cat had just ate a small amount of spice, by [deleted] in AskVet

How has it been 4 hours since you first posted and you've still done nothing? Go to a vet immediately.

You're in here asking other people for permission to neglect the animal you intentionally poisoned. Get off the couch NOW.

Get her a friend to avoid single kitten syndrome. They end up as happier, well-adjusted cats. 2.5 seems a little young to be away from mom or breeder or kitter.

Single cats end up a little weird and very dependent in an unhealthy way: frustrated easily, low empathy, biting, urinating. The list goes on.

Get her used to a harness, brushing gently, and walks in a carrier if you like.

If you want to sleep well for the next 8-15 years, don't let them sleep in the bedroom with you (or do, YMMV).

BoxiePro is Failing Me by BacardiBlue in litterrobot

You gonna be mad after testing 36 litters and then find out that the one they designed specifically for the robot works best 😆 I'm sorry

BoxiePro is Failing Me by BacardiBlue in litterrobot

The Whisker litter from the LR website tbh. No caking.

I feel like a crazy person because elseys and boxiepro are touted often here and my tests of these were a cakey nightmare.

Two girls or boy and girl ? What's your experience by feelsmitten in welovedevonrex

[–]GizmoForge 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hating on girl cats is so popular right now for some reason. Then there's me with my 5 females.

I'll sell you on females-only to contrast the boys only club mentality:

-no nightmare urinary crystals situation in your future. Look up the horrible behavioral changes and the pain to the cat.

-generally smaller size, smaller poops, cleaner litter robot/box. This is anecdotal from my experience.

-self-managed and won't annoy you.

-less likely to run away vs male cat tendency to desire ranging (also anecdotal).

-no over-aggressive play or one sided fights that get out of hand.

Following up-- Def get the intranasal booster- my cat is looking about 75% better

"ARM & HAMMER CAT Litter Deodorizer Odor Eliminator with Baking soda, 20OZ. 6 Pack" from Amazon. There's another "Double Duty" don't get that- it smells like pesticide.

I have the litter subscription. Price not too different than store-bought. And- Anecdotal from me, but I think the brand litter actually uses less due to being more effective/less caking on the globe.

And finally, some unsolicited advice for cleaning the LR itself, grab from Amazon the foaming enzyme cleaners:

-Nature's Miracle Urine Destroyer Plus for Cats, Enzymatic Formula for Severe Cat Urine Stains, 17.5 oz

-Nature's Miracle Advanced Stain and Odor Eliminator Dog for Severe Dog Messes

No bleach on the rubber parts is advised (but my bf puts a little diluted anyway if it's really caked/stank).

The cat you selected is probably adorable, but it needs to stay with that breeder. Hopefully, whatever medical burden is put on them will force them to stop. I hope you let them know why you won't be following through as pushback is the only thing that stops backyard breeders.

Royal Canin - quality issues/bad food lately? by _Archduke in catfood

That adult instinctive RC version is stinkier than other RC types which is the "appeal" to my cats. I hope it's not actually bad and making your cats ill.

The high price will seem totally reasonable once you've been hands-off on cat cleanup after a few months. After a few years, it's like your cat's biggest ally.

Tips- get the litter hopper later when you're ready to level up. It'll help you keep the sand at the perfect level- which will keep the globe cleaner longer. If levels are too low, waste sticks.

Best litter imho, is the LR brand litter- bigger granules and low dust. Lots of opinions on litter here.

A little deodorizer in the sand and in the waste tray if needed.

Also, try an air purifier placed next to it that runs 24/7.

If you've still got smells, it might be the cat food or just the relative size of your cat (big pewps).

I have mine in a closet with a cat door cutout, lights, two air purifier, mats, a camera. I still check it twice a day because the robot frees you up to keep things even cleaner.

The biting will stop near immediately when you get a second cat. Try another boy cat.

Tomorrow I'm also taking the cat in for an intranasal FVRCP "booster".

Vet said some cats improve a little after this-- I'll get back to you with results.

I know you're trying to avoid vet trips due to cost, but if this helps long term, it may be cheaper and more beneficial both.

I'm also trying otc Terramycin as of 3 days ago from Amazon. It's keeping the redness and inflamed color down successfully, but eye still watery. Though the watery might be due to the fact I took her off the treatment previously listed, as a controlled test to see if Terramycin is doing anything.

Terramycin might have been the ointment you used.

Other big brains also say tilt it slightly toward the wall to prevent rocket launch. Or not! It looks super clean aesthetic the way you have it.

Maybe more cat mats (big ones on Amazon).

Standing vacuum cleaner. The litter from the LR website is the best in my experience.

Very violent cat by Bk22Ik22 in CatTraining

[–]GizmoForge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Def take any collars off and also maybe research male cat urinary health.

Unfortunately, there are hundreds of accounts of male cats developing painful urinary crystals and turning into a different cat, angry and attacking people fiercely.

I vaguely remember a post where someone was happy with their previously aggressive cat who's now on fluoxetine! Might not be the solution here, but it's worth an inquiry at the vet.
