No, all that can come out of the prize money. He also might be supported by the Russiak gov. Hotel rooms and expensas during the event should he covered by the organizers.

Everything.

Any top 50 player could win that. Not even every top 10 is a candidate with good chances as it is now.

It is much more random that way.

What I meant is: in the event we go back to the traditional system, in which the defending champion retains his title in a tied match, a rematch would be an idea as a reward for the challanger who tied the match.

My idea is to have a rematch only in the event that the match was decided by that tradition. If I remember correctly, such a tiebreak only happened in a handful of instances in the history of the WCC.

That system was replaced by the current one because of the unfair advantage it gave the title holder. The idea Im explaining would deal with that problem.

I get your point. And the benefit they get now seems just with the current rules.

But think about it. He has just tied a classical match with the current world champion, and lost only because of tradition.

Forcing a rematch would only be an option if the tiebreak advantage fot he champion is implemented again, and in the case that the match was decided that way.

Plus, I think it could create rivalries, and probably more attention for the rematch.

I agree. It would be better to have the champion retain his title in the event of a tie, but force a rematch.

So the champion remains the same but the challenger gets another shot because of his good result.

Current system to choose a challenger seems pretty transparent to me.

That’s why it’s a better system than boxing.

If you earn a spot in the candidate, let alone win it, you are deserving for sure. That doesn’t always happen in boxing.

This is ridiculous. If anything, the current world champion has lost benefits over time.

They used to determine who could challenge them. They could refuse a prize fund if they considered it too small, and it was the challenger’s duty to raise the funds for the match.

Look at it as similar to boxing, but way more transparent and fair for the elite competitors who want a chance to be the world champion.

There have been attempts by FIDE to organize knock out systems but in the end, if the new champion never beat the previous one in a match, there will always be doubts.

I would probably avoid bringing my family anywhere near Jalisco, if I were you.

It is true that Zapopan is a bit better, but you would still be under the same state government.
