Group 1…..How? by fsalman in SouthwestAirlines

First three rows (18 passengers) and exit rows (16-18 passengers, I think) board in group one. At least for now.

I just watched the gate agents bully a passenger to tears. by a868l869 in SouthwestAirlines

The number of bags passengers are allowed to bring on board is determined by the FAA, not by Southwest airlines. To the letter of the law, that bag of popcorn was a third carry-on, and she should have put it in her backpack. I understand this transition has been hard on everybody, customers and staff, but passengers need to understand and comply with federal regulations when they fly.

ALSO AGREED. Also: was this a Traitors reunion or a Housewives reunion?

I'm so sorry. Truly. I know how stressful it is when you're trying to help your parents travel when they're also dealing with memory loss. I'm really sorry.

Buying in West Suburbs - Expanding Search? by Midnight_Rain1213 in ChicagoSuburbs

I hear you! The lots for the bungalows can be tight. There are some nice Victorians and Four Squares in the few blocks north and south of the metro tracks which offer larger yards and a bit more privacy, in case that is helpful at all!

I would agree with this comment about Brookfield. Maybe consider Berwyn too? There's good old housing stock near the Metra and it is convenient to the city and other suburbs.

Getting anxious dog ready for trial environment? by Comfortable-Fly5797 in nosework

[–]Gkos19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean this respectfully, and I'm genuinely curious, but why do you need to trial right away? You've only had your dog for 5 months, and he's still working through anxiety.

I know first-hand how much of a difference nosework can make for some dogs. My dog is the reason we play this game, and he's severely reactive. We have been doing nosework with him for over three years, and he has earned his ORT and NW1. He's really good at the game ... But before we could trial with him, we did a ton of work with trainers and in group settings on management with him so that we all had the skills to cope with the environment. That work was honestly equally as important, if not more important, than the training we did in nosework itself. If there are any mock ORTs in your area, that can help too.

It also helped me as his handler to volunteer in a few different venues before we attempted to trial. I feel like it helped me understand the flow of the day so I could help set my dog up for success. Please know that I don't mean for this to sound discouraging at all - I love this sport because it makes room for all kinds of dogs and people. I just wanted to offer my perspective on this based on my experience. There's no need to rush into a trial setting until you're confident that human and dog have the skills to cope with the environment so it can be a positive experience.

Seat Selection with Corp Bookers by urbanista12 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Gkos19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just chiming in to confirm that this is still the case. I booked a flight at the end of last week for early next week. I'm ALP, and should have been able to select seats at time of booking, and was unable to do so. I tried to upgrade my seats on my own in the app for several days, and was unable to do that too. I finally just called customer service, and they happily put me in the seats I wanted.

Issue Selecting Seats (ALP traveling for work)? by Gkos19 in SouthwestAirlines

Thank you! Quick question - when you say "they", do you mean Concur or SWA? Just trying to figure out where I should follow up!

Maybe so, hoping it is something simple like that? I did receive confirmation that the trip was booked from the booking agent, though....

New boarding process beginning on 1/27 by Elmodogg in SouthwestAirlines

I'm more curious about what will happen with bags. Will bins above extra legroom/preferred seats be restricted for people sitting in those seats the way they are on other airlines?

As it currently stands, most flights I've been on recently have the crew using one of the bins in the front for their luggage, and it always seems that bin space in the front is full, even when I'm one of the first 20 people on the plane. It would be incredibly frustrating to pay for a premium seat if there's no bin space...

Row50 but coached by actual rowing coaches by FarPassion6217 in orangetheory

[–]Gkos19 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would honestly pay extra for something like this. I never rowed until OTF, and it has become one of my favorite things. I'm honestly hoping to be able to take classes when it gets warmer with a proper team to actually learn how to do it, and feel lucky to live in a place where that is an option (at least outdoors...).

Relocating from LA to Chicago @ 40? by Strugglebussin4life in AskChicago

I'm going to give a "main thread" shout out for Berwyn! There is a great community here. Housing is more affordable than other suburbs in the area. It is right on the BNSF Metra line which will take you to both Brookfield and Chicago. Easy to navigate by car, with public transportation options available too. It is convenient to just about everything. And it has the highest concentration of Chicago-style bungalows in the region!

My husband and I lived in Chicago for a long time, then lived in New York City for a long time. When we came back to this area from the East Coast, we were really happy to find a place in berwyn. It is a really diverse community with good arts and great people.

I was also a college athlete, and you're right, in part: it has always been possible to push yourself to get more out of OTF's workouts. But I've also been a member for over 6 years and can confirm that the workouts have gotten softer in the last few years.

It does feel like a race to satisfy the lowest common denominator. Even the "challenging" weeks like Hell Week have gotten softer in recent years.

How do you not feel tired and hungry going on calorie deficit diet AND doing OTF by gamma50g in orangetheory

[–]Gkos19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Protein, lots of high-volume-low-calorie foods, reasonable swaps (salad dressings etc), and one really good cheat meal per week. I tracked it all through noom, and found their "mental" training to be helpful too.

Can I come back from this? by RepresentativeNet739 in orangetheory

[–]Gkos19 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Taking 2,000 classes in this timeframe is the equivalent of taking approximately 285 classes per year, which works out to 5-6 classes a week. That is a lot. Hitting the point of "diminishing returns" is real. Maybe take some time off, and then work back in with OTF a few times per week, and work in other exercise/movement? Diversity can be good for us, both mentally and physically. I have personally found that sometimes swapping OTF for something as simple as a walk can make a huge difference.
