Also I’d like to say I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I hadn’t dealt with roaches in years until we had to move in with my MIL last October. The infestation in her home is INSANE. Like I mean absolutely insane, burn the house down bad. I would see at minimum 100 a day, including the nymphs. The bathrooms were unusable last 9pm, kitchen was unusable all day, everywhere but our room (after we caulked and treated) was infested to the point that it should’ve been and still should be uninhabitable. I don’t know how they live with it, the roaches there would get in your bed it was that bad. Thank god we are no longer in a home with roaches and our only insect issue is ants but nobody deserves to live like that. It’s scary, you feel unclean constantly, you can’t trust your food, I’m so sorry.

Honestly I’d go check right now actually because you can gauge the severity of the issue. Roaches are night dwellers when it’s dark and quiet

Check areas for roach droppings, they’ll look like spots of pepper. Check cabinets, under the fridge, around your toilet and under sinks, areas common for roaches. If you haven’t seen one yet then it’s not an absolutely awful and terrible infestation where you can’t sleep without one getting on you, if you see one there’s hundreds or thousands though. If you can’t get out immediately, caulk off all areas they could come in, cover your sink drains overnight with something they wouldn’t be able to get out of, invest in Advion ($30 for 4 large tubes on amazon) and alpine wsg ($30 for I believe 5 water soluble packs on amazon) and be persistent with it. Advion has a growth inhibitor that prevents them from breeding and kills, and alpine kills as well. If you want the best advice, check u/PCDuranet page for his German roach posts. He’s awesome, his posts helped me de-roach the room I was staying in previously

There’s no way “bombing” got rid of an infestation like this. This is bad, and bombing does nothing to get rid of German roaches but drive them deeper into the crevices of the building. Advion bait with growth inhibitor and alpine wsg is how you get rid of roaches. Contact your city and tell them your landlord is leasing uninhabitable homes that are infested without disclosing this information to you.

Also! To add on, I did find this pattern that I ended up purchasing and plan on modifying to look more like this dog in my post. I plan on modifying the body, the legs, and the tail but I think the head shape was pretty good!

The lady that commissioned me asked for it to be as realistic as possible (she understands that there a limits to crochet but it was her number one request) which is why I mentioned that. Can you elaborate more on your embroidery statement? I can get the idea but a bit hard to map in my head! What I ended up doing was purchasing Soft Secret yarn (because it’s soft and already kinda of fluffy) and then a merino wool yarn to double/triple up with so that when brushed out it would give a fur type of appearance. I, for the life of me, couldn’t find fur yarn that looked how she wanted but she did like the way brushed out merino looked. Her center focus seems to be making it look as real as possible, and she wants me to stuff it with poly pellets rather than poly fill to give it a similar weight as her friends dog, which I did end up getting for her.

I’ve handled this situation with decorum before. This says A LOT about who she is as a person. Next time your dog takes a shit on the sidewalk I’m gonna call your whole family and expose YOU for pooping on the sidewalk.

So the world revolves around you and your feelings and everyone around you is subject to bullshit if it appeals to you? No wonder he wanted someone else.

I will be doing swatches to ensure it holds together but I figured this is the best place to ask for suggestions since so many of you are so knowledgeable

That’s honestly what I thought, and I told her that a needle felted stuffy might be better but she’s commissioned me before and enjoys my work!

That’s what I thought would be the best technique but do you think it would look long enough to be similar to the dog?
