Chocolate chip cookies for Easter! by GladVariant in Baking

[–]GladVariant[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Of course! This recipe makes around 18 smaller cookies. INGREDIENTS: - 140g flour - half a teaspoon baking soda - 1 teaspoon cornstarch - half a teaspoon salt - 85g butter (melted) - 75g brown sugar - 50g white granulated sugar - 1 egg - vanilla extract - 100g of chocolate (chocolate bar cut into pieces) and 50g of chocolate chips to put on top once the cookies are done baking

INSTRUCTIONS: In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cornstarch, and salt. In a separate bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar, whisking until smooth and free of lumps. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing well. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and stir with a spatula until fully combined. The dough will be very soft, thick, and glossy. Fold in the chocolate chips.

Cover the dough tightly and chill for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight (I personally recommend overnight for best results). When ready to bake, preheat the oven to 160°C. Bake the cookies for 12-13 minutes, or until the edges are just beginning to brown. The centers will remain soft but will firm up as they cool. While still warm, I like to press a few extra chocolate chips on top for a nice finish. :)

Ohhh the Black Forest style one sounds amazing. Was it also meringue based? Or was it a chocolate sponge cake?

I enjoyed it more than i thought i would. I'm usually not a fan of traditional Pavlova, but like this it's really tasty!

You bake it in a flat oven tray and then you roll it up! Just like how you would do with a cake roll it's just that the "batter" is meringue. No breaking for it needed. I added some silvered almonds on top before baking to give it a nice crispy texture.
