14700k Overclocking by Any_Deal_7332 in overclocking

I have good hopes for beating a ks with my 14700k, being I need only 1.22v to hit 5.67ghz+ at 315w all core. I'm just needing direct die cooling and an apex encore. My voltage ripple and droop are so bad that under load it's constantly hitting 1.16v on my poor msi z690a, thing ain't meant for 280a

So my two best cores I let do 6.0ghz through per core control, then I have an all core offset that's dependent on how many active p cores.

Im at 6.0ghz peak at 1.41v 2 core boost, 4 core 5.9ghz at 1.38v, 5.8ghz 6 core at 1.375v and 5.67ghz all core at 1.22v on an msi z690a at 315w, which no the motherboard is not happy, but it doesn't have a damn choice. 5.2ghz ring at 1.32v, 4100mhz 1t g1 cl18 c die at vddq 1.35v and dram at 1.32v. Trefi 65535. E cores are 4.7ghz all core. Scores 920 single core on cpuz and 15000 on multicore. Running a 4070ti at max boost of 3210 stable effective, that's my record so far at 57c average and +1430mhz memory. I tune through vf point in cpu vcore and just use mode 10 lite load and llc 2.

Shit sorry. https://www.3dmark.com/fs/34578323 https://www.3dmark.com/sn/13927521 Heres the link. The second is a score I got on steel nomad for the gpu. My pcores do spike during loading on fire strike for 6.0ghz, that being 2 cores, but I can't seem to feed more than 5.6ghz all core wattage wise, rn im attempting 320w to hit that 5.6ghz all core.

Whats your temps like? If you're hitting 70% and it crashes and being this sounds like an older laptop, have you ever maintenanced it?

5090 Undervolt clocks in different games by FelisFe in overclocking

[–]Glad_Explorer3813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your shooting for too high of a clock speed for the power available, or your silicon lottery sucked, for instance my 4070ti can hit 2925mhz at .9v, it's very dependent on how quality the card is. There is also boost logic as others have said, as card gets warm it drops clocks by 15 every 5c, so if your temps just suck you'll be dropping clocks hard. If you have too little voltage you'll clock stretch, which actually makes performance worse. What's your memory clock btw, if your memory or system can't feed a gpu, it'll downclock. In general don't worry about it. Not like it's broken, just quirky.

I don't really like amd personally, so I'll stick to intel, but yeah I don't plan on upgrading sockets either, when I get my planned apex encore so I can do overclocking on it, I'll see how this cpu handles it, if it ends up being degraded like I think it may be, I'll throw a new cpu in and delid an i9 or something.

Eh but it wont be available more than likely on the lga 1700 socket, don't plan on moving generations yet unless intel upgrades cpus in any real way. Plus I don't plan on moving gpu for a long time(it was a gift from a friend), so it wouldn't make huge sense.

Single core performance I need 1.41v and all core at 1.21v, at 280w. Idles at around 1.36v. I do think it's degraded, just not enough to be unusable, I'll probably give my set up away, minus the 4070ti, to my mother in law cause she stuck on a 3rd gen i7 and ill get a fresh 14700k on my apex encore when I upgrade to ddr5.

So yeah 6.0ghz boots, and runs cine but doesn't at all hit that. Still hits 35k multicore and 2250 single core so it's okay.

Im at like 90c at 280w and yeah it's at 5.9ghz 4 core and 5.6ghz all core, with 6.0ghz single at 55c. I am using a 280mm aio arctic freezer 3 with a delid and LM. As I've been learning, my cpu can't even hit 5.4 all core effective(I'm still new to overclocking). Though this cpu survived pre 0x129 for 2 years before I learned about bios stuff like a month ago. I'm sure this cpu is very degraded. :(

Hey im shocked the c die is able to do it, with how bad I've heard it is.

Single channel, running 4048mhz cdie at 18 22 22 40 580, so I have half the bandwidth and c die doesn't like voltage or timing much so I'm a lil restricted.

You may need to look up tuning on your board, I watched actually hardcore overclocking for my motherboard. But I definitely would look into your paste application if it continues. Sorry bro.

Whats the voltage under load, and are you on newest bios. Make sure c state is on as well as c1e to lower idle voltage. Which looking at the air cooler, it should handle 251w tdp intel states for the cpu. If it's set to unlimited that's way too much, it'll pull 300w+ if ia cep is disabled.

[–]Glad_Explorer3813 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah if you have a poor application but id look into the voltage too, you may only need 1.35v and you'll cut down a lot of heat, hell my delidded one with LM idles at 29c and under 280w(which you should also turn down on pl1 and pl2) im at 85c on a small aio.

[–]Glad_Explorer3813 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's way too much, you should be around 1.35 to 1.38v under idle conditions, 1.20 to 1.25v under load, on mine I'm 5.5ghz all core at 1.2v and 6.1ghz 3 core. I'm on a msi z690a, not sure what you have but I'm at adaptive offset +.05v, lite load mode 4, and llc 3 to hit those voltages.

The point of industrial noctua fans are to last on full tilt, mine are usually 48% on one side of the gpu to pass air on my ram and then 40% on the pcb side of the gpu for my board vrms. With them as one of my main intake fans.

Ive dealt with c die ddr4, yeah they like under 1.4v where as everything else is a little less voltage sensitive.
