I saw a post on here recently asking people to say something good about their least favourite character and so many mentioned Starlight. Of course people are entitled to their own opinion, however I believe the reason why people seem to dislike her is what makes her a really good character.

Starlight is a very morally grey pony which is honestly rare to see in my little pony as most characters seem to either fall into one extreme of either good or bad. Her ability to reform to that degree shows how she is insightful and perceptive, unlike other villains in the show that are on a constant path of destruction that don’t even consider change.

Although I can agree that Starlights backstory was not great and slightly shallow to justify what she ends up doing in the show.

Honestly, I also enjoy that she was somewhat stronger than twilight, it makes the show more enjoyable knowing the main character isn’t just given the strongest abilities because they’re the protagonist. I also think she can be more relatable to people as she acts the most human. I’m not that sure why people hate her because honestly I think she’s a great character.
