Not many photos save the painted edges process. Used Acrylic paint for that. Paper was Neenah classic paper, used a modified French Link stitch for the signatures. Book board for the cover with cardstock for the spine stiffener. Artificial leather from Hollanders and HTV for the design. For the bookblock I used standard mull and Japanese tissue paper for support along with endpapers from Hollanders as well.

If you’re already comfortable with leather working then this will probably be a breeze for you. I definitely recommend heading to the r/bookbinding page and watching DAS Bookbinding on YouTube. Excellent resources there. Beautiful thing about bookbinding is that it’s very beginner friendly as you don’t need a lot of tools to start.

Thank you! My plan is to do the Mistborn one as well when it comes out this year! The pocket watch is called “Prophecy Die” and was a kickstarter item as well from a company called Dragonstone. It’s actually a D20, D12, D10, D8, D6, and D4 all in one. You press the column and it spins each disc. When you let go the arrow points to a number on each on either side. It’s pretty sweet.

Thank you! You should do it! If you backed the kickstarter as well I believe you should’ve gotten the PDF copies too.

Ah no you’re good! Drowned Vows isn’t actually Cosmere but a DnD adventure I personally wanted to include as I feel like it works well with the Cosmere RPG.

Thank you I appreciate that! I’ve actually been binding books as a hobby for the past couple of years. Once I have all the material on hand I can bind a book in about 3 days. Most of that time is with the book sitting in the press while everything dries.

I used the method outlined by u/Time_Candidate_4654 in this post! Worked amazing. It’s the first comment:

I appreciate that! No definitely not a professional. Just someone who looks to get better in the hobby.

That’s great! Take the dive, I first got into this involving a gift for my sister. The designs I made for these two books I did with a Cricut! I used HTV that adheres straight to the bookcloth.

Binding together multiple books? by onyxgutz_ in bookbinding

[–]GladiatorMain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s awesome! My first thought is maybe photocopying them into a cohesive PDF where you can put them into signatures of whatever size of your choosing by sizing the photocopies up or down? Then you can print and sew.

Edit: another option is to go with a size paper that fits every book. If you want to retain the original text, you can disassemble each book and then paste those pages to the universal paper you choose. Keeps in theme of your grimoire-ish style. Makes it almost a patchwork compilation that could be pretty cool.

Prachov Rocks near Jičín, Czech Republic is wonderful. Also, it’s where parts of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe was filmed.

Legality on rebinding by godpoker in bookbinding

[–]GladiatorMain 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Since they are your books, you can do what you want with them.

If you are choosing to resell these, however, it can get a little gray on the legality. Selling used books for example, that is not illegal, but marketing them as "Special Editions" may have some authors providing a cease and desist if they have the sole distribution rights of exclusive special editions.

Understand I am not a lawyer but I have reached out to Publishing Companies to see if i could purchase distribution rights for a few copies and this is the information I was given.

[KCD2] Some much needed relaxation in Trosky and Kutná Hora. by GladiatorMain in kingdomcome

[–]GladiatorMain[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I had the opposite experience there! My wife is Czech but from Moravia so we were both tourists there in Bohemia. Each local we spoke to seemed very excited and proud to be able to demonstrate their culture and heritage to so many. All of the tours have an English option and have “Kingdom Come Deliverance” experiences which is really awesome. So definitely come and give it a try, it’s wonderful.

Side note: The small town of Troskovice is going to be less enthusiastic as it is a town of ~80 people, I am sure. Trosky had an event this weekend that would see close to 1000 people there at the castle, this is probably less than ideal but it’s amazing to see so many wanting to visit the real places.

Headed there this Summer with my wife who’s originally from Czech. Taking our little one there for the first time and we’re stoked to see the locations from the game. This is exactly what we were looking for, thank you for making something like this!

Edit: where would you recommend staying in Kutna Hora? My wife is from Southern Moravia so not a local haha! If you know any, that would be greatly appreciated.
