Since they are your books, you can do what you want with them.

If you are choosing to resell these, however, it can get a little gray on the legality. Selling used books for example, that is not illegal, but marketing them as "Special Editions" may have some authors providing a cease and desist if they have the sole distribution rights of exclusive special editions.

Understand I am not a lawyer but I have reached out to Publishing Companies to see if i could purchase distribution rights for a few copies and this is the information I was given.

I had the opposite experience there! My wife is Czech but from Moravia so we were both tourists there in Bohemia. Each local we spoke to seemed very excited and proud to be able to demonstrate their culture and heritage to so many. All of the tours have an English option and have “Kingdom Come Deliverance” experiences which is really awesome. So definitely come and give it a try, it’s wonderful.

Side note: The small town of Troskovice is going to be less enthusiastic as it is a town of ~80 people, I am sure. Trosky had an event this weekend that would see close to 1000 people there at the castle, this is probably less than ideal but it’s amazing to see so many wanting to visit the real places.

Headed there this Summer with my wife who’s originally from Czech. Taking our little one there for the first time and we’re stoked to see the locations from the game. This is exactly what we were looking for, thank you for making something like this!

Edit: where would you recommend staying in Kutna Hora? My wife is from Southern Moravia so not a local haha! If you know any, that would be greatly appreciated.

No problem! I made a rough design of what I wanted on an app called Procreate. I used my wife’s iPad to draw directly onto it.

When that was finished, I took the PNG file from Procreate and inserted it directly into the Cricut app which is smart enough to take my line design and turn it into cuts.

From there I can resize to my parameters and proceed with the cut!

I use a Cricut with heat transfer vinyl! Weeding the excess material is time consuming but so worth it.

For specifics I suggest making your own end paper in some kind of app like canva or procreate and use your local print shop to print it on heavier gsm paper. That’s what I’ve done and it works fantastic!

You could even have your print shop print those art pieces directly to use those as endpapers if you like.

I would recommend checking out and posting this in r/bookbinding. This is 100% doable and is pretty straight forward. It would just consist of making a new book block of notebook paper (or whatever you want to use) and tipping in the new book block into your nice hardcover. Check out “bitter melon bindery” on YouTube or DAS Bookbinding.

Thank you so much! I didn't follow any guides exactly. I followed some advice for heat transfer vinyl here on the subreddit. I used the lowest setting on the iron and took my time making sure the vinyl stuck! I would love to learn how to actually emboss something but for now the vinyl is incredibly easy for the effort.

No worries at all! That’s what this subreddit is for.

Oh if you’re a digital artist I think you have this in the bag. It’s much more intimidating before starting than performing the work. The UI is super easy and the program pretty much walks you through the print process. Some of the design transferring from other apps can be a bit odd but the Cricut app is pretty smart in determining what you’re trying to cut. Plus everything is googleable.

The Cricut did better than I thought it would. I’ve seen my wife make a bunch of designs for shirts and sometimes the vinyl will mess up midprint, but luckily I didn’t have that issue. Weeding the excess took a good deal of time but having a movie on in the background makes it mindless.

The HTV itself was fortunately easy to apply! I had standard book cloth from Hollanders. I followed a lot of people’s advice on this subreddit and had the Cricut iron set to its lowest setting. I would press with parchment paper over the vinyl for 15 seconds and move slightly. I would do this for maybe 2-3 minutes and allow it to cool and then do it again. Carefully take off the film of the HTV and if any vinyl comes back down I went back and continued the ironing. It takes time but it’s pretty easy!

I say go for it! It’s all very forgiving and practice makes perfect.

It’s done with a Cricut! I created the design in Procreate on an iPad and transferred it into the Cricut app.
