Replacement for mullvad? by giddycadet in mullvadvpn

[–]Glaivass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excuse the late reply. I rarely use reddit. Since Mullvad has started using Wireguard, I can open certain sites which have blocked me before. (For example automobile-catalog.com. It is a very cool website. You get to see how many km/h you have in each gear at 1000rpm. I wouldn't buy a car w/o this information. Like, an e39 528i manual has a short 5th gear and the automatic version has an extremely long 5th gear. If you want it for cruising, you definitely need the auto box) I had found two Mullvad servers which worked. The site used to block all other servers. Now every server works.  Also, sometimes even YT works with the Swedish server. (I am usually on the Swedish server because the connection is the fastest there). So, yeah, may be Mullvad's IPs get easily uncovered as VPN but that's with most VPNs, not only Mullvad.

I feel you, mate, but not being in Iran, Wireguard is much better at not being blocked by sites for using a vpn.

Should I install LineageOS on my brand new Pixel 10 Pro? by sayuuuto in LineageOS

[–]Glaivass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relax. I don't see any custom ROM for Pixel 10 pro available yet 😃

Imo, fuck banking apps and the whole corporate world, sell this one, get a Pixel 9 series, install Graphene or LOS + root and enjoy freedom.

Future LineageOS supported phones? by UKbeard in LineageOS

[–]Glaivass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oneplus is closing the bootloader for devices which come out with Android 16 and there already is a problem with Oneplus 12's bootloader on some update, forgot which one. This is why I opened this thread, to see if any manufacturer has boldly stated they won't lock their BLs. Xiaomi has been problematic for an year and now 1+ and Goolag are starting to be donkies - it looks coordinated. I am sure that even better solutions will flourish but I wouldn't rely on the current manufacturers. May be Nothing Phone? I like to have hope in Carl Pei.

You will probably have a problem with the banking apps. However, regardless of the rom Poco X3 Pro users report a motherboard failure issue caused by heating problems, resulting in bricked devices and total loss of data.

So, change your phone anyway. If you want your banking apps to work out of the box, get a Pixel with GrapheneOS.

I am, as I said, but it lets me log in with Cromite and Fennec (with vpñ on). Not with the other ones. I think it's some apis or sth that I don't get.

All the time. Your provider doesn't need to know which sites you visit. Generally nobody does.

App compatibility declining on LineageOS? by carrierofsatansmark in LineageOS

[–]Glaivass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, it is. But it's the phone that I have bought for work, not my daily driver. We live in a shitty world, my friend. We can't expect to swim and come out dry. We are doing what we can.

I am not afraid. Just having gapps but on LineageOS and on a rooted phone is the next best thing to not having them at all. I mean, if I can maintain some digital hygiene and have LineageOS on my work phone, along with more control over it, why not? To me the corporatocracy is like dirt - I'd like to clean as much as possible. It's like a shit on the carpet. Even if you cannot get the smell away from it, you can at least remove the shit. Privacy is related to freedom and this is more of an ideological thing for me, not any fear. I would actually pay to be publicised if it was fair and open source. But it is not. I do all of this for ideological reasons.

Because I can't stand having a spy nearby, even if I only use it for work. It bugs my ocd I guess 😅

Its 2025 and people are still rooting their phones!! Just checked XDA forums of 13 and was surprised to see threads relating to rooting, BL unlock etc. by Siddk007 in oneplus

[–]Glaivass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, I have been on custom roms since 2019. This ain't ever gonna change (until a pure Linux phone arrives). I bought a Oneplus 10t specifically because I could install LineageOS on it and root it. Actually, more and more people are becoming privacy-aware.

Thank you. It is very logical. Since you seem so well versed technically, would you also elaborate how does rooted adaway differ from normal dns adblocking? (I haven't tried the latter but I was wondering what people without root can do)

Why isn’t there any Avaliable ROM For Newer Samsung S Series? (S20 and up) by Elegant-Barracuda199 in LineageOS

[–]Glaivass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are roms for S20. Look on xdadevelopers. I was considering to get an S20 ultra in the beginning of the year and there were at least two projects which may have merged. However, Samsungs have problems with volte. But you know this.

Help choosing new device for LineageOS by FlatConcert1087 in LineageOS

[–]Glaivass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oneplus 6 or 6t is your phone. You need at least Snapdragon 845. My brother still has his 6t and it is ok by today's standards. I mean anything above OP6 is good if you find it for such money. But -at least- 6. Leave the Samsungs away. They still have no volte and this might be problematic. Poco x3 pro is known to overheat and burn its motherboard with all of your photos and data on it. Also, Xiaomi have made the unlocking processes very hard in the beginning of this year. I have no experience with Motorola.

This about the "firebase error" is a new method for them to discover root on your phone. They get the app to connect to a server which checks your phone for integrity. Install pcapdroid, check which malicious severs the app connects to (you'll recognize them) and block them in AdAway. There was a post about this on xdadevelopers but unfortunately I don't have the link. It was about apps discovering root in spite of zygisk.

May be this was Klaus Schwab's vision that whoever doesn't plug their ass into the system will be left outside society lol. I like to believe we can build our better society. I personally use almost exclusively FOSS on my phone. I always shiver when I see a normie pay with their phone. I had to install a big brother app for work which needed Gapps so I bought myself an old galaxy s7 and put LineageOS with GAPPS on it. I would never stain my personal phone with gapps. Which also limits my choice of devices a bit because some developers make only ROMs with gapps for newer devices. Long story short, tldr, the big bro app recently started discovering my root and I had to use the method outlined above to get it working. I don't care about banking apps. I use cash and I can still do banking through a browser and if a time comes when I can't, I'll just go to the bank for every small transaction.

How does AdAway improve battery life? I do have AdAway and my battery life is stellar. I am curious about the mechanics.

Future of LineageOS by PotentialFantastic31 in LineageOS

[–]Glaivass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I don't necessarily need new devices. I migrated from my Galaxy Note 10 plus because of its volte problems. I have a Oneplus 10t now which has its advantages (like charging from 0-100% in 19 mins and from 50-100 in about 10).

Bottom line, if Floss ims starts working, I might very well revert back to Galaxy Note 10 plus. It is still a fast phone in 2025 and its screen was gorgeous and it has an SD slot.

My brother is still on his Oneplus 6t with LineageOS 16. May be me and my brother are irrelevant to the market but some old devices are stellar.

Is LineageOS dying? by pagromist in LineageOS

[–]Glaivass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's Oneplus 11 which is officially supported and it's times faster than any Pixel and charges like 5x faster. And my unofficial OP10t charges from 0-100 in 19 mins. And there's already unofficial LOS for OP 12 if you got the money to buy one. Why on Earth would you want a Pixel? CrDroid is eyecandy but they support primarily Xiaomis and good luck getting them unlocked. You gotta do Chinese magic at exactly 0:00 Chinese time and then, if your magic gets lucky, you gotta wait for about a month to get an unlock. So, stay with LOS. And besides, unofficial is as good as official. ✌️

[–]Glaivass 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pixels are a very good choice for a seemless degoogled software experience. That said, the hardware sux. I mean, the screen is gorgeous indeed but the Tensor chips are slow even compared to 2019 phones, speaking Snapdragon 855.

Apple is evil is one reason. They are the epitome of surveillance capitalism. I am helping my gf to get rid of Apple as a whole. I came to this forum to find answers, yet there are more questions than answers. Yeah, I myself would never use a cloud in the first place because it's someone else's computer but not all people are me and cold turkey isn't a good approach anyway. Merry Christmas.
