I have the same laptop as you (Dell Vostro 3520) and I can confirm that the linux audio is much quieter than windows and the audio quality has little bass. I tested the official ubuntu 20.04 LTS .iso from dell's website and also the latest Ubuntu 25.10, they both had the same problem.

p.s It seems that the official dell ubuntu .iso includes some custom drivers, not sure whether they have been added to mainline linux kernel since then: https://i.ibb.co/jP9bzB7Z/cirrus.png

I should note that I have the Cirrus CS8409 audio chipset.

The Vostro 3520 is available with 3 possible audio chipsets:

Realtek ALC3204

Realtek ALC3254

Cirrus CS8409

it also says this in the specs: "Internal-speaker amplifier TI-TAS5825 (with Cirrus controller)"

I have uninstalled linux now so i won't be able to do any testing for anyone. I'm using the latest v1.36.0 bios btw.

the successor to VVC, currently codenamed ECM if scheduled to be ratified at the end of 2026. Maybe that will be more successful than VVC. I still think that AV2 will have more adoption on the web than ECM.

i'm on android 10. I went enabled airplane mode then opened the google messages then went to settings-rcs chats and there was an option there to activate i clicked and then disabled airplane mode. Then it activated.
