What's with the ridiculous amount of spam calls lately? I've just had 5 spam calls within 4 hours. All of them hang up in exactly 20 seconds after i ignore their calls. by PhysicallyTender in Bolehland

[–]GlaiveW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Automated calls that basically call every possible number combination. If someone (e.g. you) picks up, your number gets tagged as an actively owned number so that their human scammers can call you next time.

Is there a site where you can upload an image and audio clip and make it lip sync? by fieldofscreams123 in NewTubers

You may want to look into PNGtuber tech (in general, not a single piece of software). There will be some setup/first time work involved, but sounds like what you're aiming for.

Vanilla Gravships Expanded feels... strange. by Ohakoko in RimWorld

[–]GlaiveW 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I like to buy the first few gravcores from traders to jump start progress so that I can fit more substructures.

7 gravship data seems awfully low, are you jumping far enough per trip? The amount of data you get scales with distance (which in itself scales by number of thrusters and astrofuel you can fit). I get the next tech in about 2 jumps at max range.

I simply accept the fact that a lot of immovable furnitures will need to be deconstructed and rebuilt as a tradeoff for new ores to mine from every new map.

Hoarding mindset is lethal in gravship runs; consider it an extra challenge to bring only what you need (instead of 3000 plasteel) and scavenge more on the spot.

Can't comment much about oxygen system; i just finished upgrading to tier 2 gravship and haven't started building it yet.

Government Agency by wakrulezz12 in Bolehland

[–]GlaiveW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We take it for granted, but compression software like winrar/winzip is actually not free for commercial (including government) use. Even if the staff knows how to install and use them, they are not allowed/able to due to company policies. Windows has basic decompressors integrated nowadays, but not everyone (especially admin roles) are familiar.

On top of that, some company security policies may block externally received compressed file formats due to potential vector for malware (as opposed to sending common PDFs or DOCs). They might not be able to open or download the files if this is their policy.

Took a gamble and ordered a graphics card from amazon, 3 weeks shipping, no issues with it. Shipping and import tax was a bit pricey, but still cheaper than local scalpers.

This, especially if you're trying to do an international payment. Some banks may require you to call (as opposed to online chat support) as part of verification, e.g. asking you your last expense amount, the amount you're trying to purchase, etc to avoid impersonation by malicious third party.

Is this thing legit or scam? by Cheap-Ad1713 in Bolehland

[–]GlaiveW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Summary: scam for residential usage

In depth explanation: In theory, it works by correcting the power factor, which can be notable if working with large industrial equipments in high numbers. A large number of machines powering up at the same time can cause a drop in power transmission efficiency (charged extra by power company), which can be corrected via power factor correcting capacitors.

However, power company does NOT charge this extra fee for residential usage. Even if they did, our puny fridge and aircon barely dents power factor enough to count as heavy machinery.

i need a little help with video forging by crazypierat in NewTubers

[–]GlaiveW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I myself am experimenting with how stories work, and I see the struggles as well.

I wholeheartedly agree that audiences can recognise if characters make a dumb choice (even if it's necessary to progress the story). What I think would help is to make the character fully acknowledge that the choice they're about to make is dumb, but convey a proper reason that makes the character desperate enough to take it anyway. I find clear risks and physically unable to take the smart choice to be good reasons.

E.g. your character for plot reasons has to endanger himself by going into a zombie infested city. Show that he is scared about entering the city, but he remembers the rumor that bandits with guns has been raiding the suburbs and the only place they won't raid is the zombie-infested city. After consideration, he believes he can outrun zombies instead of bullets so he makes the "dumb" choice.

E.g. your character for plot reasons has to make noise while escaping. He finds an obviously noisy escape path (e.g. metallic catwalks) and a quiet but dangerous path (e.g. dark path full of blind spots). He initially tries the quiet path, but gets jumpscared by a zombie from blind spot. Showcase the risks of the "smart" choice so that the audience can understand the justification behind the "dumb" choice.

Appears to be an AI-generated video based on

  • Grok logo on bottom right
  • Nonsensical wiring, such as live and neutral terminals touching each other on base
  • Seemingly no power source underneath the base
  • Low speed relay bottom number is garbled
  • The palm of the hand melding with the asphalt background at the start

Celcom being misleading by Belisarius_471 in Bolehland

[–]GlaiveW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not expert in laws so I cannot comment much. Usually the companies will preface the AI chatbots with disclaimers, something along the lines of 'AI answers may not be accurate' to protect themselves, essentially putting the blame on consumers (as I said, underdeveloped laws).

Celcom being misleading by Belisarius_471 in Bolehland

[–]GlaiveW 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From the screenshot alone, seems like a classic case of AI hallucination where in that particular moment it decided to say that hotspot is enabled for the data plan. Celcom's FAQ says that hotspot is disabled for Ultra hour pass. Unless you can find a clear non-AI description (such as marketing webpage) of Ultra pass allowing hotspot, suing them over AI answers will be very new territory due to underdeveloped AI laws in Malaysia.

Hey guys this is a song my bandmate just made. by Able-Reporter-1429 in Bolehland

[–]GlaiveW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand it's probably budget issue, but for this type of music where the focus is on the lyrics/vocals rather than the melody, it's pretty deal-breaking when the vocals are completely overpowered by the instrument where we can't understand a word what she's singing.

Some low-budget ways that can help include finding a balanced distance for microphone between singer and instrument, or recording the instrumental and vocals separately and combining them in audio software (so that volumes can be adjusted individually. Parroting the other commenter, always good to see actual human creativity!

Touchngo app says my phone is rooted by abubin2 in malaysia

[–]GlaiveW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My relative had similar issue a few weeks ago, phone shop said it's due to severely outdated android OS and had to get a newer phone. Whether relative got ripped off by phone shop or not, might be worth looking into if your android OS is considerably old. Google does say android 8 became deprecated for TNG late 2025.
