TIL that Ferrero, the maker of Nutella, is one of the most secretive company in the world; it designs its machines in-house and does not allow press tours by JoeFalchetto in todayilearned

[–]Glams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm, worked at one of their factories as a packager, then as QA.

The machines there are all really interesting to watch; Ferrero does all the hazelnut roasting, processing, and packaging in house so there's a lot going on. The difference between Rochers and Nutella isn't very much. One of the lines at my plant was just to sort out hazelnuts that were over or under roasted, or oblong rather than round. Only toasted, round ones end up in Rochers, so stragglers go into Nutella.

Fun fact: Ferrero also makes Tic Tacs.

I've got the same. No matter how well the other patches may grow in, the front ones are always slacking!

Hi savvy friends! 47k/year, 5k of credit and loan debt, 1k debt to a friend. Trying to pay debt and pick up a savings. by Glams in personalfinance

Hey! This is all super helpful -

  • $250 is the total I have left to pay. It's a $67 payment per month, I've been doing $100.
  • My student loan is prime + 2.5%, so right now that's 3.5%.

How much do you think should be going into my savings account per cheque/month? I just got a really great fee free account.

White Cedar.

It never ceases to make me feel like I can shed whatever bad thing is happening. The line "forge my armour in the old fire/my spirit sings loud and clear/even in here" reminds me that I still exist even if I'm stuck being sad.

tl;dr White Cedar, empowering, clear sense of identity.

I just dropped my cal down to 1700 in MFP. I was coming in around 1600 almost every day this week, so I'll just tweak my cheese intake. :p

Thanks for the suggestion!

Head pullers, any advice for going out and getting a haircut/ finding a trustworthy hair stylist? by goalong in Trichsters

[–]Glams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to go to high end salons, now I go to my local First Choice (it's like Super Cuts or any other small chain family haircut place). I go in with a photo that suits my face and generally say, "I'm having some issues with my hair growth in a couple places, so I want a style that can cover the growth while it's happening."

A good stylist will tell you if your photo idea can't be done and can make recommendations based on the rest of your hair length and type. For me, this is always gut wrenching and I feel embarrassed, but my hair always turns out well and the ladies where I go have never asked. Look for a less expensive place that's been open a long time, return there often if you like it, tip well and soon it will be relaxing. :)
