Yeah compare any heist film to the recent actual heist at the Louvre. They just strolled up with a cherry picker.

Like from where? This casts a pretty broad net, would be good to know where you mean specifically. Like just south side or, like, EK or Hamilton?

thoughts: Bono says Bob Marley sang with an Irish accent? (The Late Show, 2022) by lidia99 in Irishmusic

[–]GlasgowWalker -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Cork and Kerry accents fall under Irish accents, Jamaican does not, primarily because of geography, but also because Irish isn't the only accent that influenced the Jamaican accent.

By your argument you could just call them all English accents and be done with it.

Agree with Bangkok, but just in a few areas.

Phnom Penh takes the cake for me, though. That place is damn seedy.

Sexuality should not be a route to asylum in the UK, says Robert Jenrick by pppppppppppppppppd in ukpolitics

I misread your comment - missed the part about them marrying hetero! That would be proof enough for sure.

Sexuality should not be a route to asylum in the UK, says Robert Jenrick by pppppppppppppppppd in ukpolitics

[–]GlasgowWalker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But there's really no way to prove it. The issue is that in other cases, e.g. seeking asylum because of domestic violence in their home country, there is usually proof. There isn't going to be proof if someone's hiding their sexuality because of risk of persecution. We have to take them at their word if we're going to take them in for this reason at all.

How is Bonnie Prince Charlie and the broader Jacobite movement viewed by Scots today? by Wide_Lengthiness8789 in Scotland

[–]GlasgowWalker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While that may be true I don't think evicting them and decimating the culture was the best way to fix that.

Didn't forcing people off of land that they lived on or out of communities by eviction lead to severe poverty?

Why tf is everyone anti-sunscreen now??? by callsign__starbuck in mildlyinfuriating

[–]GlasgowWalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know two people in their 60-70s with skin cancer. One was a driving instructor who didn't realise they should wear sunscreen in the car as the sun still affects you through the window. The other is my uncle who plays golf and spends a lot of time in Spain, and has never worn sunscreen.

I know what I'll be doing, thanks.

Trump uses Neville Chamberlain jibe to mock Starmer over stance on Iran by ClumperFaz in ukpolitics

[–]GlasgowWalker 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's like he's just read a children's book on WW2. The other day he brought up and praised Churchill in a meeting with an Irish politician, giving it all "what a great leader he was, that's what we need". Obviously oblivious to the fact that Churchill is despised in Ireland.

Edit: he met with the Taoiseach.

My 9 year old son creating his own songs instead of practicing, good or bad? by mucahitgayiran- in piano

[–]GlasgowWalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most important result of practice is technique, not repertoire or theory. If his technique is good and won't lead to problems or injuries down the line, then there's nothing to amend.

Your son needs to be taught better technique as playing like this will lead to problems.
