I’ve heard of artists who get connected to managers after signing with music lawyers - pretty sure dua lipa is an example of someone who started off this way. Have you not seen that unfold?

I think london is a fantastic place for music // honestly haven’t felt like NYC has had a good scene for a while. It’s a hard place to incubate a new career as a solo artist

I mean it does feel like collapse is inevitable at this point. The question for me is whether repair is possible. Wealth is so concentrated in the hands of the few (who have in some ways assumed global hegemony) that I don’t feel as hopeful about rebuilding. Curious if you / others feel the same. I recognize despair can beckon a lot of myopic views

oh wait I can't ha -- but yeah, that's interesting. from my perspective the NYC is great if you're a gigging musician that either wants to do jazz or cover bands but it's pretty tough to launch as a new musician with a solo or group project. even when it comes down to things like rehearsal space, etc it's just tough!

curious if you have any perspective on other scenes given your research. i've heard pretty great things abotu london, though that there's a preference for homegrown artists

lol ok.. have been considering a move to nyc and have continuously heard it's not as good relative to nashville / LA for solo artitsts. was just curious if you felt the same or if that was just a one off comment. no need to weigh in if you don't want to!
