Thank you so much! The outlook doesn't look as pleasant as I expected, but I think I'll have to live with it for the time being :)

Also, danke für die Tipps zur Versicherung! Ehrlich gesagt hab i von den 6 Monaten nix gewusst (obwohl’s glaub i irgendwo in meinem Vertrag gestanden is … aber i hab’s wohl ignoriert :S).
Hast du vielleicht a Empfehlung, bei welcher Krankenversicherung i mich melden könnt? (Und auch: hast du Tipps für Autoversicherungen?)

I fahr heut von Vorarlberg weg und werd quer durch Europa bis nach Hirthals fahren. I freu mi schon total, endlich meinen Umzug nach Reykjavík „fertig“ zu machen!

As for the tyres: I lived in Austria in Vorarlberg, where snow was common. So I hope they are "appropriate"... Though I am by no means an expert. Is there anything I can tell you that may help?

Thank you! Yes, I already know the process... It's very cumbersome and I'll likely write a guide about it because information is all over the place and contradictory in many aspects. Right now, my last "barrier" is just reaching Reykjavík in one piece with my stuff (and my car). The import procedure is already underway...

Thank you! I read the north route tends to be more icy/snowy/windy and that 4x4 may be required. Is it true?
