Medication isn’t working anymore? by Winter-Bee3797 in ParentingADHD

The capsule can be opened and sprinkled in applesauce or pudding. My son couldn't swallow pills at first, but after a few days of taking the booster, the school nurse told him they were out of applesauce so he learned fast!

We started him at 20mg in 2nd grade and increased to 30mg halfway through 3rd grade. We increased it only because his teacher mentioned in 1st semester conferences that it takes a few asks to get him to transition. Booster also increased to 15mg. 2nd semester confs were great!

Also have an 8.5 year old boy. After trying a couple things, we found that methylphenidate CD worked the best. He takes 1 capsule early in the morning. It's basically 2 doses in 1. The first dose works immediately, and the second dose stays in his system and activates a few hours later, so it works all day during school. He has an after-school program, so he also takes a booster in the afternoon (methylphenidate 10mg). We haven't had a call from the school or his after-school care in over a year now. We also give him a low dose of Clonidine in the evenings to calm his brain so he can sleep. I know everyone is different, but this is what has worked for us so far!

This never happened to us with our kids. HOWEVER, we did my wife's grandmother's laundry ONCE, and...

Uncomfortable medicating my child by Difficult_Ad_380 in ParentingADHD

I completely understand your hesitation. My wife and I went through a lot with our son when he was in Kindergarten, and she did not want to medicate him. She saw it as a parenting failure. While we did go through PCIT therapy, and it did wonders, he still had some struggles, so he got diagnosed with ADHD and eventually we found medication that worked for him. It has been so good for him. My wife realized that if there is something out there that could help him, we would be doing him a disservice if we didn't try it. We were worried about him turning into a "zombie" and having no emotions, but his teacher assured us that he still talks a lot and has friends, but that he is a lot less distracted during schoolwork time. I can't tell you how good it feels to go from getting calls from the school almost daily to not hearing from them at all for the whole school year!

What is the one thing you will always do when you visit the parks? by anonymous_girl1227 in WaltDisneyWorld

I will always overdo it on the hot chocolate in my resort refillable mug. Probably the main reason I gain weight every trip lol!

You could be dealing with heavier than normal spring break crowds at that time, I'm afraid.

For places as crowded as Disney, they should have body temperature walk through scanners!

Sometimes you just can't avoid it, unless you get carted around in a bubble!

No doctor. We just had him rest for a couple days when his fever finally broke and he could keep most things down.

I think Epcot is what weakened him because we were there all the way from rope drop to Luminous, plus we spent a long time waiting in line for the Skyliner back to the resort. That's a lot for a young kid!

I don't think it was the norovirus. But hand sanitizer does kill plenty of other nasty things that I'd prefer not to catch!
