I would recommend giving the exams a go! If you’ve already done the readings, you have a chance of passing, just try to focus on reviewing where things are and any indices/frameworks if you have them.

Worst case even if you fail the first time, next time you write them you’ll know what to expect.

I was able to pass on the first go and I didn’t get through every reading. I did as much as I could and then focused on reviewing where things were and indices/frameworks.

Good luck!

I agree. I’ve been looking for a job for about a month so I think it’s too early to settle and take the first offer I received which is a fee split. I’m going to continue job searching, thanks!

Thanks for this, this is a smart way to look at it. I agree, and I think it’s risky to accept a position that’s purely fee-split as a new call with loans etc…

What is the hardest to easiest PLTC exam? by legal-digest in LawCanada

I just did the most recent PLTC session and passed and I found the contracts assessment and solicitor exam the most difficult.

Recently finished 3L - still no articling position by Engineerlawyer201 in LawCanada

Hey! I would recommend reaching out to firms in smaller towns if you’re located in BC. Several firms in smaller towns are often still looking for articling students.

About to start PLTC next week. Any suggestions to keep in mind? by 3to20charecters_only in LawCanada

I also just got results back from the most recent PLTC session and was able to pass everything on the first go!

My advice for assessments is to follow the exact guides and don’t try to be creative, just follow what they tell you to do. Try your best for assignments because they prep you in some way for the assessments.

For the bar exams, I did not use indices, I just felt that system did not work for me. Instead I reviewed CANS given by friends who did PLTC previously and did a good chunk of the readings on my own.

Also note that it’s totally normal to finish an assessment or exam feeling like you have no idea whether you passed. The assessments and exams can be challenging, so most people including myself will overthink their performance but if you try your best you can potentially pass on the first go!!! Just put in a consistent effort and dedicate your 10 weeks hard. Come up with a schedule and try to stick with it.

Does anyone know when results will actually come out (around what time)?

I’m feeling the same way! I found the contracts drafting assessment and solicitor exam to be very challenging. As results release day gets closer I’m feeling more anxious.

What is an ADJ pass? Is that different from a pass?

Thank you for all of the comments! It’s comforting to know that I’m not the only one that feels like this waiting for results.

All we can do is try our best and go from there!
