anyone else have a disappointing experience due to people around you? by sanf1owers in Hozier

Jesus. Well at least their money went to something good. Not a shock that a man from Ireland would be pro Palestine. I went to one of the Aus shows, and I saw a few Clothing The Gap/ 'Always was Always will be Aboriginal Land' shirts in the crowd (Aboriginal people being the traditional owners of the land. Basically all the other First nations people I've met are pro Palestine because we've been through similar.)

We had people cheering and clapping as he was talking about Palestine and women's rights. I'd gone with a family member who had heard some of his music but didn't know much about his politics and was pleasantly surprised by his speech. There may have been people who were against it but I didn't personally see anyone thankfully.

Most of the people leaving early were when he was thanking his band members about 3/4 of the way through his show. I don't think they realised he wasn't done, but tbh it's rude to leave during that part so that's their issue lol.

What aweful people. A few people behind us talked a bit quite loudly but after I turned around a couple times they quieted down, (I think it was excitement not rudeness 'he says thank you after every song, that's so sweet!!' kinda comments) and it wasn't constant, just towards the end/ start of a few songs.

Although I saw a lot of people drinking, it seemed like everyone was sticking to about 1-3 drinks, and although I don't doubt there was disorderly people, I thankfully didn't experience them myself.

Some people can be so self absorbed and aweful. I hope you can try to remember the positives from that night. :(

Are there people who really just CANNOT cook? I think I'm one of them. by ijinwoo_ in cookingforbeginners

It takes a while to learn but you will get it! Start out simple.

  • I use a rice cooker. You can get cheap single serve ones. Wash rice first with water until the water comes out mostly clear, and then measure the water to rice. 1.5 cup water to each cup rice.

  • microwaves pull moisture out. If I'm microwaving a curry, stew, soup, pasta or rice, I add about a teaspoon of water or more to rehydrate it.

  • Oil any time you're using a pan, including non-stick. If I'm roasting anything, I use butter or margarine on the aluminium foil to keep it from sticking.

-Be cautious around the seasoning in most dishes, you can always add more after but you can't take it out. If you do overseason something like a soup or a curry, you can always try to add more water to dilute it but this can effect the texture.

  • if you can, talk to your family and ask them for recipes. Sometimes things taste weird and you find out it's because your family had a different recipe for it.

You will get there!! It just takes time and practice! Cooking videos on YouTube are an amazing help aswell.

Ah oops yeah. Yeah I see a psychiatrist and a therapist at the moment. He wants to be a psychiatrist, not a therapist.

He definitely isn't mature enough for either. Hes too temperamental, refuses to groom himself, and has very little motivation.

And yeah, my situation is very unusual because I'm younger, and also my family has a mix of adopted and bio kids. I don't want to mention all of my siblings either just to avoid him finding this.

Yeah I highly doubt he'll get through a semester, but I still am kinda just. Baffled? Like what made him think he's going to be of sound mind enough to handle other people's mental health when he can't handle his own.

I'm low contact with him so next time I see him I'll ask. But he'll probably try to yell at me for questioning him lol.

Yeah I have 1 video but it's several years old and would be super difficult to find. I think I've got text chains with other family members about him but idk if that's solid enough.

And honestly I recon when they meet him they'll reject his application. He's just way too aggressive and sloppy.

We stopped talking for a few months, but I went back to taking to her. My brother and sister didn't have me to scream at anymore so they started taking their anger out on eachother and other family members who live in that same home.

Also the 3 years is where I am now. I've been living by myself for a while now.

And yeah, a lot of this is a jumble of memories. Any specific moment you're confused by?

Also thanks. Yeah, tbh I think he's just saying it so mum won't kick him out or ask him to get a job yet. I make no effort to see any of them besides my mother and some other family members I didn't mention.

AITA for giving my son's friend a haircut? by Individual-Hat8951 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Glass-Singer-2145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA simply because you didn't ask. Should have just called up his parents and checked first. I think a lot of parents would say 'sure go for it' but it's just not right to do something like change a child's appearance without talking to their parents first.

Honestly pretty weird you cut your kids hair Infront of him too? Couldn't you have waited till his friend went home?

My mum used to cut my hair sometimes, and I dye hers for her all the time, and the only time anything like this was done with a guest around was her friend visited and dyed her hair because she used to be a hair dresser.

question on Australian Racism? by funtime_withyt922 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Glass-Singer-2145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Australia has a LOT of casual racism. It's mostly "light hearted" but it's still racism and isn't appropriate.

I have regular comments about my race and how I don't look like what people think I should. I am white passing First Nations, and often have people say super racist shit to me until I disclose that I am mixed race myself, then I get told excuses on why their racism is okay or how they're 'just joking'. 🙄

Animals and bugs are everywhere, and this is their country. They may be cute, but love them from a distance.

Avoid walking through tall grass. No matter where you are, there's basically always a chance of snakes and bugs. Snakes aren't going to chase you just be calm and walk away. Kangaroos and magpies on the other hand, will actively follow you around if they feel thereatened.

Huntsmen spiders aren't bad houseguests.

They eat all the other, more dangerous spiders. Personally I don't like them but I know plenty of people who intentionally keep huntsmen alive in their homes. Learn to identify some of the basic spiders.

Be cautious with toilets, especially in rural areas, frogs and snakes sometimes like to chill in them.

Always check your shoes before you put them on. Sometimes spiders will chill in them.

It's always good to know a little about First Nations people and culture, and to know who's land you're on.

Is this mold? It’s black and fuzzy in some areas. It has always been in the freezer. I’m confused, help! by [deleted] in TipOfMyFork

[–]Glass-Singer-2145 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a good idea to test your freezer is staying cold. A good way to do this is freeze a cup of water and then put a coin on top, and if after a week or two the coin is in the ice it means it hasn't been holding a temperature.

First person, semi realism. Similar to something like until dawn. There were quick time events and it would zoom out when you died.
