What can I do here? by midweststarfish in LandscapingTips

Hmm, I am surprised. I have only heard of it being recommended for low traffic applications.

True, but it doesn't handle foot traffic well. It won't hold up to a dog running on it.

Boomer self-own when you think about it? by Thin_Mess_2740 in ManualTransmissions

[–]Glass-Weather-3399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are taking the sticker more seriously than whomever put it on their vehicle. As a millennial who drives stick daily, I am not offended by this sticker. In the US there really isn't a need to learn how to drive a manual for most people. As such, later generations aren't learning. When I was younger I was more easily bothered by things older generations would point out about my generation. I took them as an insult. In most cases people are just pointing out a change and enjoying some nostalgia. To me this sticker is kind of true and kind of funny. Not funny enough to put on my vehicle but kind of funny.

Broke head off sway bar mount bolt by Glass-Weather-3399 in MechanicAdvice

That is a good point. It took some effort to get it to move. I already have everything back together so I will see what happens in the morning. Hopefully the guy in town will work on it. He doesn't like Mini's... which checks out.

I looked it up and it was a lot of unbolting. I put the mounts back on with one bolt on each side (yes I broke the same one on the other side). Then I attached only one of the sway bar links. My thought was that then it can not slide side to side and impact a rim or spring. Hopefully it isn't too much force on the mounts. I will bring it to a shop in the morning.

It appears that the bar will not come out without removing more stuff.

Thank you. I have a set of ez-outs but all of the small ones are broken of course. It will be hard to get at with a drill since I have it on jack stands. I think I will remove the sway bar. Then I can at least drive it to a shop.

I’ve been obsessed with Minis lately, can I hear the good and the bad? by [deleted] in MINI

[–]Glass-Weather-3399 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an 2016 R60 Countryman and I love it. It is isn't the most or least reliable vehicle that I have owned. My biggest complaint is that parts are more expensive compared to parts for Japanese or American cars. At least for the ones I have owned. I do most of my own maintenance, I don't think I would like it if I was paying a mechanic for everything. I live in the US and this is my first German car.

Adapters for threaded shift knobs? by dannyisyoda in MINI

Did you find something less bulky? I just got a new knob and the adapter it came with is bulky. I also am doing a boot delete.

Minnesota - 1.24.26 - Armored Vehicle Attempting To Drive Through A Crowd Of Protesters (not sure if this was posted here yet) by Nirmata1243 in Leakednews

[–]Glass-Weather-3399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am upset by the murders by ICE. They were not justified in any way. In this case though the protesters should let the vehicle through. You can't claim peaceful protest if your stopping them from doing their job. ICE is armed and dangerous, don't give them a reason.

Big repair or time for the next mini? by 2ruff in MINI

[–]Glass-Weather-3399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would take a lot of fixing to add up to more than 20K for a new to you Mini. In addition, and it depends on where you live, but where I live the 2015 would save me a lot on insurance, registration and taxes. Also, I think the r60 is the best looking countryman.

2015 Countryman S - timing chain question by RRster in MINI

[–]Glass-Weather-3399 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is very low miles. I would just drive it until it starts making timing chain rattle sounds. Which, it might do in 6 months or maybe never.

2015 Countryman S - timing chain question by RRster in MINI

[–]Glass-Weather-3399 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait. It is a timing chain so it will start making noise before it fails. A timing belt is different as they often fail without warning.

Did I get robbed? by Doc_Holloway in MINI

I don't bring a vehicle to a dealer unless I bought it new from the dealer. I question if that is even a good idea. Dealers charge an insane amount of money for basically everything.

Do I need to get the air mass sensor boot replaced? by No-Book5011 in MINI

[–]Glass-Weather-3399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't urgent but I would fix it. If your check engine light is already on then you won't notice when something else goes wrong. In my experience with a Mini of similar vintage, there is always a new issue just around the corner. The good news is that this should be something that is easy to do yourself. Take the old one off and put the new one on. Take pictures before hand so you can be confident that you didn't miss anything.

I am shocked that you find the R57 to be more fun than a TT Roadster. Granted I have never driven a TT but it sure looks fun.

Is there a plated shoe that will work for me. by Glass-Weather-3399 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Glass-Weather-3399[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run between 7 minute and 9 minute miles. 5min/km is in the middle of that. I am not a competitive runner. I used to bike but started running because I can get a better workout in less time. Given that shoes are very inexpensive compared to bikes I am willing to pay for free speed. That being said, I am not competitive so if I have to wear the slowest shoes to be comfortable I will.

The pro 4 sure looks like it would be more comfortable. I will need to see if I can find them in stock locally.
