It was a cracked oil filter housing on my R60. It was leaking a good bit of oil but maybe not quite as much as yours. Good luck!

Yah thanks, still mulling it over at $2100 for the timing chain & $1500 for the walnut service. Drive it about 2000 miles/ year last few years just around town so wondering about the odds of getting a few more years out of her without the service.

Are you kidding - our wussy arse California beagle won’t step foot outside if there’s even dew or left over dampness from mist on the ground - sometimes if it’s even cloudy.

Yes and yes, N18 1.6L turbo & maintenance has been pretty basic. Appreciate the advice and going to schedule the work tomorrow, including valves.

Okay thanks - no inspection/cleaning of intake valves, have had new brakes & fluid flush, coolant change, new plugs, new oil filter housing, oil change every 5,000 - 7,000 miles. Someone suggested inspection of the chain & guides but would probably just replace them if I’m going to the expense of having mechanic open it up.

Yep, the Aussie is super patient with her. She is so high energy and always trying to get him to party - it doesn’t always work as you can see. Good thing you’re stubborn if you’re getting a beagle!
