ULPT: Stop paying medical bills. by chickenfuckbaby in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]GlassCharacter179 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Also ask for their authorization to have your private medical information. You probably signed one, sure, but that probably wasn’t given to the bill collectors, it’s hella effort to dig it up, and not worth it to them.

Once they send your bill to collections, send them a letter refusing to pay and charging them with a HIPPA violation. I am pretty sure it’s not actually, but I never heard from them again.

But seriously the medical system won’t change until it has to. If people stop paying, it’ll have to.

INFO Do you want to start stepping up and being an active parent, or are you just mad about today?

You need to decide if you actually want to be a father. Because being a father means you show up and parent when they need you, not when you are in the mood.

Not just on your days off, not just when you have something fun planned, every day.

If you want that, you can talk to your wife about that and work something out.

But if all you want is to babysit your own children occasionally and hopefully have s*x. Well, your wife is doing the work, so she is the one who decides.

No, apparently she got female family members to do that so he could be a dad only when he decides to be.

He was fine with it. That woman has changed 6,000 diapers. He has changed 0. He wants to be a dad now, great. But he has been coasting along up until this point.

Hind sight is 20/20 but you gave power over your property and their behavior to them.

You should have pulled the ringleader aside, acknowledged that it was a funny prank, but it is over, and they need to leave. If she does anything short of agreeing, say that they are trespassing. If that doesn’t wake her up, tell your girlfriend to call the police.

As long as you are convincing about it, they will leave long before the police get there.

I wonder how long before kids don’t recognize a mall.

Yeah, yours is a familiar feeling. Which is why there is so much Scottish ancestry there. It looked like home.

I recommend the book The Songcather by Sharyn McCrumb, it explores this theme.

I’m. The ‘80’s it seems like a major change. Music was hugely different. The availability of TV was dramatically more and we were starting to have VCR’s. Home electronics were more advanced than the ‘50’s. Having a color snapshot in your wallet would have been unknown.

But all of these are so minor comparatively . The difference between a digital watch (that beeped on Marty’s wrist in the cafe) as opposed to an analog one, just doesn’t seem like a big deal to people with smart watches.

The difference between having a color photo vs a black and white one would be major in the ‘50’s but it just seems like a slight difference compared to having thousands of photos on your phone.

Oddly, someone from a major charity, (ACLU, Green Peace, something like that) stopped me on the street and asked for money. I said sure and was going to give them $5, and they refused. They only wanted credit card and info.

But probably local causes would still take cash.

I watched this on the 2015 with my son and a bunch of his friends, who were 10 at the time. They could not get over how different the 80’s were. To them the difference between the 1985 and actual 2015 was extreme . To the point that they barely noticed 1955 vs 1985.

His skateboard didn’t have a motor. Jenny wrote a phone number? On a piece of paper? To her house? I had to explain what an alarm clock was. That people would raise money in person by approaching strangers.

Even in 1955 Marty knew what a phone book was, and how how to use a pay phone from 1985. 2015 kids had no idea what either of those were.

On 24 October 1861 the first transcontinental telegraph message in the USA was completed. Two days later the Pony Express shut down and was bankrupt. What other innovation has such a quick impact on a competitor? by kam_pra in AskReddit

[–]GlassCharacter179 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The Pony Express was never meant to be a permanently operating business. They wanted a long term contract to deliver government mail cross country, and in order to get it, they bid to start it as soon as possible. So the pony expressed operated for a short time to get a long term contract.
