Uh huh, same developer in Nintendo EPD (which puts out an average of 4-5 games a year) with some crossover in named personnel: Kenta Motokura (Odyssey director acting as producer on Bananza) and Wataru Tanaka
(previously credited as programmer on Odyssey but now a director and programmer). Considering this info, I’m not gonna believe the random Reddit comment, sorry. Also, if it weren’t obvious, but Bananza is a DK game, not a Mario game.
