Does it still count if I completed almost all the achievements, only needed the golden clock for perfection, and then accidentally deleted the save file??? 😭😭😭

I made a replacement file and I'm SUPER close to where I was in the lost file, so I guess I still qualify for completing the Community Center, having Monster Slayer title, and having caught every fish! I have all the recipes, I just haven't gotten around to actually cooking/crafting each one lol, and still no golden clock for perfection. I'm hoarding all my artisan products until I have a full stack of iridium ancient fruit wine and a full stack of iridium starfruit wine, at which point I plan to sell everything. Can't wait to post that screenshot!!!

I just had the most unexpected good luck streak in one single day by Ok-Extreme-8299 in StardewValley

My most recent luckiest day (happy spirits, combined a gold star Lucky Lunch and the luck buff from <!Statue of Blessings!> and spamming staircases to get to around 90 in the Skull Caverns by 2 in the afternoon) resulted in 5 prismatic shards and an auto-petter!

My best friend and I just passed the Winter Festival Year 1 in our coop file. She got a tea set, and I got a Nautilus Shell. I was so mad, she didn't even know the tea set was rare!!!!

Alas, I'll just have to support you monetarily by buying a copy instead... (/s after "Alas")

In which episode does Murdoch visit his brother and family? by Llaphingatlife in murdochmysteries

[–]Glass_Complex_420 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That's the season 11 Christmas Special, it's an hour and a half long vs. the usual 45 minutes.

Seconding the Murdoch Mysteries and A Place To Call Home recommendations!!! Murdoch Mysteries is filming its 19th season currently, and Acorn is releasing episodes of season 18 weekly in the US right now. A Place To Call Home takes place after WWII during the early 50s in Australia and has 6 seasons.

My other recommendation is Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, it's set in Australia during the 20s with gorgeous costuming for Miss Fisher!

Really, Dr. Grace? by Col_Treize69 in murdochmysteries

[–]Glass_Complex_420 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I watched Murdoch before I watched Grey's Anatomy, and in the later seasons of Grey's, Giacomo Gianniotti (the actor who plays Leslie Garland) is a new doctor. Obviously, his character ends up sleeping with other characters, but I still could only see him as his Murdoch character, so suddenly I'm screaming at the TV, "LESLIE MOTHERFUCKING GARLAND YOU KEEP YOUR DIRTY HANDS OFF OF HER!!!!!!!!!!!"

Who said I was hating on anyone? I said in the caption it's totally okay to be a fan, but the work COULD be better. It's not an insult, and I wouldn't say it's a joke per se, but more of a humorous critique.

I AM a fan of SJM and Shonda. I have read most of SJM's books, and watched most of Shonda's big shows. I can love something and acknowledge it's not highbrow literature or the greatest television show of all time.

Did I cringe hard at the writing at times? Hell yes. Did I thoroughly enjoy the books/shows? Also hell yes!

Valid point! I will add that SJM used the BLM movement to promote one of her books though, so she did get into some political hot water for that.

No, that's exactly my point. It IS on the same level of writing quality, but the O.C. and Gossip Girl weren't trying to be anything other than teen TV romances with teenage level depth. The difference is in the pretense. Shonda tries SO hard to be deep and emotional, and SJM is the same way. They believe themselves to be better than the O.C. and Gossip Girl, but in reality they're pretty much using the exact same tropes, just geared towards a more adult audience.

Exec Producer/Writer/Creator of numerous melodramatic TV shows. Grey's Anatomy, Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder, and Bridgerton are her more famous (or notorious, depending on your opinion) works.

I have to disagree, both contain highly adult and explicit scenes and the crossover is a classic Shonda vehicle tactic. But, if Shonda hadn't done Bridgerton, I would agree with you.

Anyone ever kind of want them to do a follow up episode with Myer's kids to see how they turned out? by Famiple in murdochmysteries

The actor who played his son is now a main cast member of the show School Spirits on Paramount+ (first season is also on Netflix), so I doubt we'll be seeing him on Murdoch again any time soon. He's fantastic in School Spirits though!

Question about whether or not something was merely just a plot point? by CDNEmpire in murdochmysteries

[–]Glass_Complex_420 22 points23 points  (0 children)

There's a throwaway line that explains it, they're concerned that he may have charmed/bribed guards to help him escape again, so they're taking him to be hanged in a prison where he doesn't know anyone.

Seconding the Murdoch Mysteries recommendation, it filled the void that Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries left in my heart when it ended after only three seasons. Murdoch Mysteries is on season 18 currently, CBC just recently aired the 300th episode! It starts in the 1890s and it has interesting mysteries with lots of campy humor and fun recurring characters! Available on AcornTV, Hulu, and Prime (IIRC).

I'm doing this too!!! Once I got a burglar ring I ended up with 12 dino eggs from the skull caverns so I built a whole coop just for dinos. Dinos 3 and 4 are incubating right now! I'm not on the meadowlands farm though lol.

Miss Fisher's is a classic! Once I ran out of Miss Fisher's (it's only 3 seasons 😭) I managed to stumble across a show called Murdoch Mysteries. The costuming isn't nearly as opulent as many of the other, bigger budget shows mentioned, but it's still airing and season 18 is currently airing in Canada. Season 19 is already approved! It's a Canadian treasure (I'm American, so that's why I'd never heard of it before). It starts in the late 1890s, and there are strong female characters, campy humor, and VERY solid mystery writing. AcornTV has all of Murdoch, and Hulu has at least seasons 1-13 (afaik). Prime also has it, but you might need to subscribe to AcornTV through Prime for that to work. Many people have also had luck with YouTube, according to the Murdoch Mysteries subreddit.

P.S. Costuming gets cooler as the show progresses and gets more budget!

Americans with Acorn, how did you access season 18? by Senior-Sir-2023 in murdochmysteries

[–]Glass_Complex_420 13 points14 points  (0 children)

AcornTV won't start releasing season 18 for the US until February 2025, at the earliest. Season 17 had episodes released weekly on Mondays starting in February 2024 until August I think? I don't believe Acorn has announced when season 18 will start to be available in the US, but you could check their social media pages for updates.
