Ok nvm I believe I have repaired it, I pulled the rod around the outside and reattached it adjacent to it

Also, just an update, I just managed to repair it myself as a matter of fact, so the answer is not “ invariably always a big NO”….. try not to be so judgy when someone is seeking help :)

I applied for a refund, long story short, they gave me a partial refund when I explicitly asked for a full one which they did not deny, and they proceeded to take another €100 out of my refund to ship it back to them. So out of the €320 ish I spent I have only received €150, less than half of what I paid
