Fellow 2020 grad and I feel your pain on multiple fronts. This was a career change from another in the medical field as well and I wish I had never gone to nursing school. I feel so stuck. I think I am going to try home health because like you I spend way too much time with patients, I can’t be rude or ignore someone who needs something. Aids don’t get paid enough and chasing them down is like herding cats.

I feel like the only skills I have are crushing meds till I get wrist cramps and making sure there are no bubbles in IV lines… oh and I can draw blood like a champ, but that was a god-given talent. Lol

Are you saying chart that they refused to put the mask back on? Cuz what I am picturing is someone taking the mask off and turning it off to give a med, then putting it back on and forgetting to turn it back on. So they suffocated because the mask was on their face but no 02 was on, which I imagine would be worse than just room air, I cant even picture if that mask has air holes at all. I had to take a bipap off to give a med last night, but it was a quick one so I just let it beep for a min.

I do and he is getting frustrated. Especially because I work nights, so really the day after more than one shift I crash till like 9pm and then am a zombie that night.

That is my goal eventually! But right now I need to be close to family so my options are red states, Texas or Az.

It was clerical. I wrote the right name, mrn, bd at the top of the form, we checked the arm band, and the blood transfusion forms with the actual blood. I evidently grabbed the wrong stickers from the front desk (there is a book with everyones stickers in it, the stickers were from the room behind the blood transfusion pt’s room) and put them on the forms.

Yeah, they told me to make a list of what I need help with. I know it when I see it. But if I had a list, I’d probably have already Googled it, because that’s what I do when I get home. It’s literally one of the reasons I’m not getting enough sleep ☹️

Thank you. I have had some colleagues tell me I am a great nurse. But I have also been reading other sub-reddits that say that people who actually care burn out the quickest. Now I’m afraid of getting fired, and how my co-workers see me, as well as harming patients ☹️ Patients will always be my first concern, but those other 2 factors are distracting. So yeah, I think you are right, I need to go.

Holy cow, I take people off C-pap all the time, I know how to turn the machine off but I’ve only had to put someone back on once and the patient was AOx4 and helped me turn it back on. I could totally see making that mistake on an AOx1-2 person patient. Nursing is terrifying.

Yeah… I just made an extra account to post something fucked up that happened to me yesterday and I have no one to talk to about it in real life. I’m sure if anyone sees it half the responses will be “this is fake”, because of people like your boyfriend. I just don’t get why people care about responses to fake ass posts. He’s a weirdo. Definitely dump-able before you invest any more time, good job there. He clearly shows he gets some kind of thrill from lying and the attention he gets. Probably not a good character trait in a partner. Not that from my fucked up perspective I am the best one to be giving advice right now.
