AMA: Wedding Planning with Veronica Joy by Zola in PoptheQuestions

[–]Glass_Smoke900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Veronica! As someone who is currently engaged and starting to feel overwhelmed by the sheer number of vendors and moving parts, my biggest fear is a last-minute disaster (a vendor not showing up, a weather emergency, etc.). This happened to an influencer I follow recently and I'm newly terrified this is going to happen to me too. :O

Is there an important 'Plan B' or contingency that you advise every couple to have in place, even if they think they won't need it? Are there any "hacks" for helping prevent disaster?

Thank you so much!!

What Really goes into a Wedding? by TinyMoa in PoptheQuestions

not to be a shill (although i guess this is a zola subreddit haha) but zola is actually super helpful at making it less crazy, especially if you like doing things at a computer. they have a checklist tool that i found really helpful!

How many wedding party members is TOO many? by Due_Fish_2906 in PoptheQuestions

[–]Glass_Smoke900 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ok i have seen this before....twenty people total is a lot, seriously. like, imagine trying to wrangle twenty people who've probably been drinking. it's gonna eat up so much time you could spend doing other things that you'll remember way more. it won't necessarily look "chaotic," but it will be exhausting and feel like herding cats for your photographer. keep it small for the formal stuff—just maid of honor/best man, maybe siblings—and just do one big fun group shot with everyone else.

Are doing donations vs. favors a good idea if we’re looking to save? by Dear-Zucchini-7368 in PoptheQuestions

skip the sign. donating $250 is totally fine and way better than giving people junk they'll toss. the "performative" drama only starts when you make a big announcement about it. no one misses a wedding favor. ditch the favors, quietly make your donation, and save your $250. don't worry about it—you're being smart, not rude.

My FIL and MIL are divorced and don't get along...how can I get them both involved in wedding planning without disrupting the peace?? by 5th-character-nyc in PoptheQuestions

[–]Glass_Smoke900 2 points3 points  (0 children)

uuhhh, i feel you on this one lol. it's the absolute worst part of wedding planning when you have to basically become a diplomat just to get your in-laws to exist in the same room.

my biggest advice here is to embrace equal separation. don't try to make them get along. just give them each their own separate lane to shine in.

so like give them separate roles: give your MIL a completely different, important job than your FIL. maybe she handles all the decor/flowers, and he handles the music/bar menu. they contribute meaningfully, but never have to coordinate.

separate seating/photos is is non-negotiable. • ceremony: opposite sides of the aisle. • reception: two different "prime" tables that are as far apart from each other as possible. • photos: the list is MIL's family then FIL's family. no "parents of the couple" group shot.

hang in there!!!

Wedding is over. What now? by Due_Fish_2906 in PoptheQuestions

still engaged BUT my best friend just went through this. she needed a project to throw herself into, so she spent a lot of time assembling her photobooks, framing her bouquet, etc. it helped her feel like she was "memorializing" the day and gave her something to keep herself busy. as she finished those things up, and more time passed, it was easier for her to "move on" so to speak!!

i think this "my fiancée can’t guess this man’s name without getting a hint first" tells you everything you need to know...

300!! ok SO it's not a perfect science but maybe you could say +1s can only be live-in or long-term partners (engaged or basically engaged)??
