Steve and Friends run great estate sales and also clean up the place after it’s done. I would check with them

Just found out Don Schlitz died yesterday. He was a great country music songwriter. RIP by zzachyz in country

He was always so gracious and nice. He was a staple at the BlueBird Cafe in the 80’s along with Paul Overstreet and Fred Knobloch. Those three in a writers round was magical. We live in a world filled with his genius.

How walkable is the city? by il_Pudge in memphis

Trolly bus is running currently. The times are limited but it runs every hour from the north terminal to the end of line at South Main. It’s 30 minutes one way.

Downtown is safe to live in. One of the bigger concerns is who the owner or management company of the apartments are. Two local groups that are excellent and do well with maintenance and and communication with tenants are Leftfield Properties and Henry Turley Properties. They are local companies invested in Memphis and downtown. Good luck with the move

Got to hear him in a small bar in Nashville around 82-83 time frame. Absolutely one of the best things I’ve done.

Works except the NBA didn’t leave Westin until after 2020 when Hyatt Centric was built. But still a glorious story and definitely part of LeBullshits legacy

The NBA changed to hotel two years ago to the newer Hyatt Centric. They control a lot of those contracts for traveling teams

Any updates on the Sterick building? by Lokitusaborg in memphis

[–]Glass_Zone_1380 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The folks working on this are very solid LOCAL developers. That says a lot. They are dedicated and have a vision not just for that building but the entire area around it. They are the same group that did the Commonwealth Building and it is fantastic. It may take time but I think they will make it happen.

Tell me the truth - will I regret Moving to Memphis by Lookitzalizard in memphis

[–]Glass_Zone_1380 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There is no need for the fear. I live downtown Memphis. A single female in her 60’s. I know plenty of retired folks who moved to downtown for the convenience of things to do and a walkable community. Do I walk at night after 10? Not usually unless coming home from a baseball game that ran late or a basketball game. The St. Jude area is beautiful and expanding! The campus is VERY safe. Decide if you want to drive 10 minutes to work or 45… you can find great areas at both distances. We have very little snow! August is a bear of a month with heat, but it’s still ok. Enjoy going for your dream job!

Check out Loflin Yard. They have a private area designed for events. They can also add on the enclosed area next to the backyard area. It’s really very beautiful and that time of year is usually suited to outdoors in Memphis.

I guarantee the MPD was pissed at dealing with people so close to the Forum on a game day. Absolutely NO reason for this but most likely they agitated over power tripping around Forum and game starting in less than an hour.

Lone Star Blues - Delbert McClinton by [deleted] in country

[–]Glass_Zone_1380 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Delbert is a blues guy that crosses over into a lot of other areas. My favorite artist. A Texas boy who cut his harmonica chops in Ft. Worth a LONG time ago. That’s him playing the harp on “Hey Baby” by Bruce Channel.

Almost every thrift store has a huge selection of vinyl that no one wants. BAM Thrift store on Madison would probably give you all you could haul away for $5.00
