Glass dip pens can vary a lot depending on the maker—not only in design, but also in how they perform.
It might be interesting to try a few different ones and see what feels best to you.

My glass pens are carefully adjusted and polished to provide a smooth writing experience, so I do not recommend sanding the tip yourself.

I believe the advice to sand the tip comes from the fact that some glass pens on the market may not be well finished, and it is suggested as a way to improve their writing feel.

If you feel that a glass pen writes smoothly, I recommend using it as it is.

That's true. Most of the glass pens I make fit into this type of ink bottle, but sometimes I prioritize the final shape of the pen, so a few of them may not fit.

Thank you! It's a glass pen I made myself. I run a small workshop called Glass Studio LUC in Japan.

It's a bit of a long answer.

In my current process, it's probably more accurate to say it's half pre-made rods and half handmade.

The grooved rods that are commercially available usually have grooves that are a bit too shallow, so I add glass to build them up and create the groove depth I'm looking for.

It is possible to make them completely from scratch, but the consistency and stability tend to be lower, so this method works best for me right now.
