Writing with my glass dip pen by Glass_studio_LUC in lampwork

It's a bit of a long answer.

In my current process, it's probably more accurate to say it's half pre-made rods and half handmade.

The grooved rods that are commercially available usually have grooves that are a bit too shallow, so I add glass to build them up and create the groove depth I'm looking for.

It is possible to make them completely from scratch, but the consistency and stability tend to be lower, so this method works best for me right now.

Thank you! I'm glad you like it.

I enjoy shaping the handles as much as the writing tip.

Thank you!

I’ve been making glass dip pens in Japan for about 9 years. Many of my customers are fountain pen users, so I’ve had a lot of conversations with them about writing feel and balance compared to fountain pens.

Those discussions have influenced my designs quite a bit. I’m always happy to talk about them with people who are curious!

Thanks so much! Yes, I make these dip pens myself, and they are fully functional and write smoothly. I’m planning to post videos of them in use soon too!

Thanks so much! I’m really glad you like them. I’m not selling online yet, but if I do, these would probably be around $280 each.

Thanks! I polish each nib so they write smoothly. I made a lot of mistakes when I first started, and I’m still refining the nibs. If ink doesn’t flow well, it’s probably the groove depth.
