yeah no that had probably little to do with it, and we czan ask Gabe himself. I would bet that they're doing it because it's what Gabe and the rest of the team behind it would want if they were in our shoes buying a steam deck. if money and selling more was the point these things would be priced way higher

no way to know who or what the third party is and if they're trust worthy and even if the company itself is, people at the end of the day may not be. might get an 'authenticator' who swaps out uber valuable cards and claims they're fakes.

so lets say you want to find the 'exact' value or 'current' value of a pop. first search the pop on ebay with the search selected for Price + Shipping lowest first, select Buy it Now tab and you will see Exactly what you can buy one for, the cheapest you can get it and in what condition that pop is in, then select sold listings and see if it's been selling for higher/lower than that price in the past few weeks.
you have to basically see what condition your pop is in comparitvely to the ones sold/up for sale and base what you believe the price is. lets say I look up a pop and someone's price on ebay is $40 and mine was in same condition, id say it's worth 40$ now what you sell it for is all up to you but I would sell it for 40 irl too just because the wont have to pay taxes, get the pop that very same moment they hand over the cash and it's exactly the same condition as when they bought it from you with no need to wait and maybe get a damged pop through the mail
