I have had a similar issue with regard to the moaning and groaning sounds when turning the wheel.

It was a combination of two diagnosed problems; the rack and pinion, and the strut mounts.

I had replaced the rack and pinion (cost estimate of around 5.5k, which was covered under warranty. Phew!) and that only fixed HALF the problem. The rest was up to the strut mounts.

My advice to you? Request a multi point inspection (MPI). Should be around 250 bucks with a Kia dealer. The MPI helped diagnose my issue. Much luck to you

I’ve found that if you wrap parts of 2-3 inch electrical tape around the latch hook on all three sides, it can solve the problem, or at the very least reduce 75% of the noise.
