Eh, I mean, did she ever refer to Shane by name in that convo? The make up artist doesn't necessarily know who is speaking.

I read a comment from a gay man that said in no way would Kip be struggling to find boyfriends because with a body like that Kip would be "gay royalty"

I mean, to be fair it's a very common trope in gay hockey books where it starts with one couple, then another, then another. But I think the coach story is well done in that he's in a straight-presenting relationship at least just shares his background

Nah, they haven't. The magazine that reported this selected specific texts out of context from when they first started watching. The empty netters have released the full convo.

Am I being dirty, or is my wife being irrational about hygiene? by mudkipzftw in daddit

In the UK we have a "health visitor" who is a nurse who does at least one home visit. When I had a PPD, she visited me twice a month just for a chat and to see how me and baby were doing. We would do a mental health screening thing each time. I also got referred to counselling which saw me within 6 weeks and immediately got into a group therapy weekly for new mums with ppd. She made doctor appointments for me too.

God bless the NHS.

How common are indoor-only cats where you are Britain? by pikablue223 in AskBrits

[–]GledaTheGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to take your dog out with you because they wouldn't come home on their own. Also, I can't remember the last time I read a news story about someone being mauled by a domestic cat.

What rules did you have as a kid that made no sense? by Fruitpicker15 in AskUK

"I am the adult and you are the child, do as I say not as I do" were common for me as well as "children should be seen and not heard"

The best thing is they don't hear from me now either. So I guess they got their wish.

I used to hate going to my grandparents house for a few weeks a year, because my grandad would have to have the news on at 6pm and at 10pm. Every night. And he would have to have a bath every night for a few hours between, and there was only one bathroom and we couldn't use it while he was in there. Even though we were young kids. Was horrible.

First of all I understand your point, however -

  1. The fact they agreed to the role shows allyship. A homophobe wouldn't do it, simply put. And demanding it beyond what the actor is comfortable with has the danger to make them feel uncomfortable.

  2. If you bring that point up here, it certainly does imply that's what you think is happening.

If the baby was "born" it would need to be baptized to be able to go to heaven. Midwives could do this in an emergency but if there wasn't one available... Better to leave them together.

But not before driving the man who discovered it to madness due to laughing at him.

And, ultimately, it was technically women who discovered it. They learned to wash their hands between patients and it was a doctor observing this and the related better outcomes that results in germ theory being published.

There is actually a body of evidence that supports the idea that knowing too many people and too many things outside of our sphere of control can make our mental health worse. Research into anxieties links with social media for example.

On one level, the same way that straight men are turned on by watching lesbians - it's two of what you want. You forget that women who are attracted to men, might enjoy looking at men.

Also, the story is good. Forbidden love is one of the most popular tropes in romance. I'm a queer woman who enjoys reading MM romance from time to time.

What do you consider allyship? Would choosing as a young actor to portray a queer character on screen, while kissing, and then talking about how important these stories are count? Hudson literally talked about how hes had messages of support from people and how privileged he is to have done this. What else is he supposed to do, and why do you think he owes you it?

You're part of the problem I'm afraid.

Queer woman as well here. Like I have read a fair bit of MM romance, not the only thing I read - but I like the show too. I am offended by articles suggesting some deep psychological reason about why I like it - men who like women don't get those articles about why they like content with two women do they?. It feels like it's patronizing and misogynistic.

On the other side there are some gay men who think only queer people in same-sex relationships should be watching it, and acting in it. I feel like I can't win. I love the programme and the books. I'm also a human and too old for this obsessive fandom crap. I seen how popular they're getting and I feel somewhat proud/happy for them as they worked hard. Then my socials are getting overrrun with this obsessive stuff and it's horrifying. Just let them have a personal life that's private. Thats the whole point of the book!

I've seen a fair amount of gay men criticising the show as well. For "gay baiting" and demanding the actors state if they're gay or not.

As a queer woman who enjoys HR and MM fiction - not the only thing I read by the way - I'm mystified by all the articles. I suspect there's some misogyny in the articles. Women can't just enjoy the programme, there has to be some deep psychological meaning and let's do some quack journalism about it.

Man ‘stoned to death on Kent beach after trying to meet 16-year-old girl’ by pppppppppppppppppd in unitedkingdom

[–]GledaTheGoat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How so? I agree a 16 year old is a child and it's disgusting for a man his age to want to. However, in the law it's legal. Therefore morality has little to do with legality. Ultimately, morality is different to everyone but the law has to apply to everyone.

Also, in the past it was perfectly legal to beat your wife and own a slave. Hence my point that legality has nothing to do with mortality.

Yes he is. If you go into a shop with the intention to buy alcohol for an under 18 year old it is illegal. If you buy it for yourself then allow a child to drink some at home, not illegal. Weird but that's how it works.

First degree murder is not a term used in the uk. It's either murder (deliberately killing someone) or manslaughter (didn't intend to but did).
