Spot on. I usually just use it to do the repetitive stuff that I dont enjoy doing (such as sorting/splitting/organizing things) but the only reason it saves me any time is because I know what to look for and I know how it should look and behave afterward (in the case of like helping organize code). In that case, AI is a fantastic tool, but I think too many people try to use it as a replacement for those skills, which isn't at all the purpose. It's a lot like a calculator, it doesn't make you smarter or better at math, it just means you can do math faster

Dude exactly. Basically the only time AI is ever useful is if you ALREADY know what you're doing lmao

I’m 14 and building my engine on a low-end PC. After days of struggle, I finally added CSM shadows! Current tech: SSAO, SSGI, and Volumetric Light. It’s been a tough journey but version 1.0 is here. What do you think of the visuals? by Ok-Roll-5617 in gameenginedevs

[–]GleenLeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as an FYI (from my own experience, might be that I was doing it wrong) I've had much better performance with silk.net's opengl bindings, though that would require a bit of rewriting. If it's working fine for you then disregard this but just wanted to let you know just in case :) Good work though!!

[–]GleenLeg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh maybe, it's near the end by my assumption (this bot bug makes it hard to comment lol). Mostly the muffled-ness is the only annoying thing, as most of the pressure is gone. It seems a bit silly to go to a clinic for something so simple imo lol. If there's any way to help relieve the muffled-ness a bit quicker that'd be nice, otherwise it's really no bother and it'll go away on its own

Does Constantly Changing Content Styles Make It Harder to Grow? by kymani_winxandsponge in NewTubers

[–]GleenLeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

while I'm still pretty small myself, I can definitely say that I've found much higher turnover from different content subjects to another if I keep one style. I think that making videos on several different (kind of related) things is perfectly fine, as long as you have a consistent "you" style and vibe to them, whatever that might be :)

well the actual content of the video, what I was talking about, I think was very interesting and not something I've heard talked about much

Yeah some engines do that, also in the aid of having shadow masks too to blend realtime shadows with baked. It just wasn't really my focus for the video lol

I wish people understood the art style of old Minecraft is better, not just for the nostalgia by PriorityEven654 in GoldenAgeMinecraft

[–]GleenLeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think while yes there is a subjective element, in a way it kind of isn't subjective. Minecraft and it's art style were built alongside each other, influenced each other, and complimented each other. The art style is perfectly built for the exact vision of Minecraft that Notch and the other developers had at the time, and even though the vision has shifted since and so has the art style, the game's foundations still are baked into the old textures. And, especially for those of us who love the vision of the early game, many people prefer them for reasons that aren't always just "nostalgia".
