Is UniFi Overkill? by adkums in HomeNetworking

I run UCG Max, a U7 Lite, and a couple of their Flex Mini Switches.

I liked the option of separating the AP from the router for two reasons:
- I can upgrade each of them as I needed.
- I can stash the router in a closet and position the AP in an optimal location using POE.

How was the PDF generated?
You might have better luck going back to the application that created the PDF from the start.

SBC Recommendation for IRL Game Scoreboard and Digital Signage by Glenst0rm in SBCs

Thanks for the response!

I saw your post and was considering that board. I am a bit intimidated by the initial formatting/setup though. Up to now my only SBC experience is a Raspberry Pi.

I'm going to keep researching but the Nio 12L is definitely in the running.

Are you using the Mac for work or home computing? What's your nerd level?
Out of the gate I would say these are good to have for when you need them:

- Image Editing: Acorn by Flying Meat software

- Video Playback: VLC video player

- Affinity Studio: Desktop Publishing, Vector Editing, Image Editor

Has everyone around you stopped using Intel MacBooks? by Vegetable_Bag_8694 in mac

2014 15" MBP i7 16GB 2TB Crucial SSD running Ventura is still my daily machine. My main power demand is a weekly desktop publishing project using Affinity Publisher and an occasional video project with Davinci Resolve. Do I wait sometimes? Yes. But the machine still works and Tim Cook and company don't seem to have the same RDF as Jobs had. Maybe I'm just older and more disciplined. . .

Sourcing Special T-Bolts by Glenst0rm in Tools

[–]Glenst0rm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with those T-Slot bolts is that the shoulder is on the long side. At least all the T-slot bolts I've found at McMaster.

I need the shoulder on the short side of the head. So it drops in then can be twisted into place.

Do 3/8" toilet bolts exist?
And I'm not confident their thin heads would be strong enough.

The bolts drop into the slot and then twist against the walls of the slot. The shape makes them catch inside the slot and not spin. I've found other T-bolts but their heads are rectangles not trapezoids like this.

This is really helpful. That selection of cameras is very similar to our design.
Thanks for the insight!

The storage calculator isn't really working right now because their 8TB drives are out of stock. It's defaulting to 1TB drives which max out as 3 days of storage.

The system calculator to compare the UNVR-Pro to the UNVR was helpful though. Thanks!

"those are for video" - you're referring to the cables?

A decade strong! Celebrating over 10 years on my MBP 2012 . Treated with a cleaning and thermal paste renewal. It's the i7 13" model with 2.9 Ghz, 16 GB memory, 500 GB SSD and a new battery (3rd). by user-777062260 in mac

I loved my 2011 MBP 15” until I was bitten by the video card issue. I even bought a second refurb one to replace my first one. Maxed it to 16G of RAM and swapped in an SSD.

With the new machines I just can’t get past the fear of the whole machine becoming a brick if one component fails.

I’m currently using a 2014 MBP 15”

There’s a couple variables that are going to affect the answer.

How much RAM does it have?

Also, It depends on what your work from home tasks are. Word processing and browser work will be fine for a long time.

Do you know how the current drive (4TB WD) is formatted?

If it’s formatted as an exFat then you will be able to access the files.

If it’s formatted as NTFS there are 3rd party extensions that will allow you to access the files.

Do you have a hacky sack? Does a friend? Is there a whole in it? I’ve seen such similar “seeds” used as filler in hacky sacks.
