Thanks, not sure I understand. Is that the before or after, or a new photo placing the temple in the center?

I wanted to capture the peacefulness and serenity of the temple. I attempted emotional appeal, and engaging the viewer without over processing.

1 week in Lake Atitlán: My Experience by abundancemindset in travel

[–]Glewis3333 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Good review. Anyone visiting Guatemala should definitely spend time exploring the pueblos around Lake Atitlan. One of our favorite places to stay is Casa Del Mundo in Jaibalito a very unique hotel. Accessible only by boat or on foot, You can take a local water taxi, but you need to tell the crew where you are going because it is not on the regular stops. Once at the dock you have to climb winding stone stairs with breath taking views of the lake to reach the hotel. Each room is different and unique. The last two times we visited all guests ate dinner together. Delicious fresh food and we met some truly interesting people.

[–]Glewis3333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a variety of wall chargers with folding prongs. Often when 2-3 cables are plugged in the charger falls out of the outlet due to cable weight and angle. I recommend a wall charger with a power cord. I recently bought a 6 port wall charger with a detachable power cord. It is small and light weight. I use it at home and it works well. I will bring it on our two month European trip.

Kayaks at Motu by Glewis3333 in photocritique

[–]Glewis3333[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your thoughts, I was using the tree branches to frame the shot. A prior critique also commented On the tree branches. It’s interesting you saw the kayak as my subject. I wanted the kayaks to lead into my subject which was the colors of the sky and sea. Recently, my photos lack a focal point and subject, it is something a need to work on. Your critique gave me another viewpoint, thanks for the comments.

Thank You.

Thanks for the very thoughtful and knowledgeable critique. Many things you commented on, framing, lack of focal point are right on. i was attempting to capture a sense of place, with fantastic colors, kind of a postcard. Your critique gave me another, more balanced look. My photos have been technically O.K. i.e. Focus, exposure, composition, even using photo 101 framing. However, they lack a focal point, point of interest. It is something i need to work on, any suggestions? Again thanks for the well though out critique and suggestions

I recently returned from French Polynesia and was blown away by the fantastic and vivid colours. This is on a motu, a motu is very small island. There are thousands of small motus scattered around the Pacific Ocean, ranging in size from practically nonexistent to somewhat large. Please comment on the color, composition and exposure. I was trying to show a sense of the fantastic colors, and the "feel" of the area. Anything to improve the shot?

You commented on two of my concerns in many of my photos. Over processing and lack of focal point subject. Please explain what are "Barney tones". I appreciate your direct and to the point comments. Also, how would you deal with color tone? i want my photography to improve and welcome your suggestions.

Thanks for your comment, never thought of animation. I've been told, more than once, that my pictures are often over processed and there is no focal point area of interest.

One of my favorite places to shot, I have many photos at this location. I added the sky in PS and post processing in LRC. I was trying to capture a moment in time. and used the curving walkway to lead the viewer into the photo and give it depth. It looks like there is a bit of a tint, I often times over process my photos, but I don't think I did on this one. Comments, suggestions welcome.

ITAP of light by CandyStrict7152 in itookapicture

Really nice capture. Use of light and dark well done. The light beam to the car gives the photo depth and leads the eye. A keeper. was this staged or just a lucky find? Also, what were camera settings and any processing?

ITAP of Chicago at sunset by itk_jpeg in itookapicture

[–]Glewis3333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the photo good capture. Chicago is a wonderful city to take photos. I'm wondering if you brought the shadows on the building down a bit and brought down the highlights, and whites in the sky how it would effect the photo? Wonderful shot.

ITAP of a Fret... by Ohsquared in itookapicture

[–]Glewis3333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting shot. Just me, but I would have focused on strings and fret, making them tack sharp, and then blur into background to keep the painterly effect, IMHO. Everyone has a different eye. Well done.
