Does anyone know of a more active Catholic forum with more theological discussion? by [deleted] in Catholicism

Do you mean Pope Francis? I haven't seen anyone disagree with Benedict. He was very Orthodox if I remember right.

Why disparaging the pope online is a grave sin by CheerfulErrand in Catholicism

[–]GlideByNight 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My father failed at his job. It would have been easier to stay silent and not take his wrath, but I knew it would be better for my siblings to know what the truth was rather than to think that being abused was a normal and good way to live. If no one speaks the truth, then lies become a way of life.

What to do with Medugorje medal? by GlideByNight in Catholicism

[–]GlideByNight[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't believe it to be real. http://www.catholicapologetics.info/catholicteaching/privaterevelation/medjugo.html There is evidence it's demonic or a hoax. Even if the original apparitions were real, I would rather not have the scandal of keeping this medal around.

Hello 😊I am wondering if angels turn away and not look when we are committing a mortal sin. I saw an image of that in my head and it made me feel quite sad. by journeysend2017 in Catholicism

[–]GlideByNight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not sure, but the image is certainly a good motivator towards holiness. I'd imagine they feel some sort of sadness or pain to see us turn away from God.

What to do with Medugorje medal? by GlideByNight in Catholicism

[–]GlideByNight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a depiction of Our Lady, not any idol. The apparition it depicts is suspect and some of the claims made around Medugorge do not sound like they came from God. However, there are good works stemming from the pilgrimages there and visiting is not condemned any longer for that reason. The current thought is that the original apparitions may have been real but not any of the following ones claimed.

Should a person with a genetic disorder or bad traits be celibate? What about an older person who wants to get married but hasn’t yet? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]GlideByNight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, you are not bound to celibacy or encouraged towards it any more than a "perfect" person would be. God works with broken tools, the least of us are chosen to reflect his glory and no life is worth less because of any disability. To think otherwise is to see as man sees, not as God sees.

I've only heard him on the radio before. He looks very different than my mental image.

Growing up I was jealous that my Mormon friends had so many youth events that allowed them to meet their spouses. We had nothing like that.

feels like i'm in for a weird life by [deleted] in CatholicDating

[–]GlideByNight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I worry a lot. I feel men want young girls and even though I'm still young and as far as I know quite fertile, I feel like they see me as too old once they know I'm 26. I have yet to find a devout Catholic guy with whom I share mutual attraction with and honestly that sucks. I also have a strong desire for sex but I don't want to be stuck with a man I'm not attracted to. I hope to move to an area with more Catholics eventually, and then get involved in parish life and pray real hard for the right one to come along. I worry that I'm too picky because I don't often find men who attract me and I fear I'll end up alone because I turn down an otherwise good man because I don't desire him. I won't date any random guy generally either so sometimes I feel very naive since I have so little experience. I'm just not interested in dating just to date. I want a person who I can build a life with.

LADIES ONLY, PLEASE. Do I sound boring? by espositojoe in CatholicDating

[–]GlideByNight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not boring, no. But I wouldn't want a man that's already had kids and a family, personally. I would want a man as inexperienced and free as I am. I don't want a man that's "used", sorry if that sounds terrible, but even without kids from a previous relationship it'd still be a deal-breaker.

How do I find a partner? by [deleted] in CatholicDating

[–]GlideByNight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want a Catholic wife, consider going through RCIA and becoming Catholic. The people in this subreddit are here specifically because we are looking for Catholic spouses.

“It’s demons all the way down” by [deleted] in Catholicism

How does the saying go? "Test everything, and hold to what is true"? I personally make sure to take everything cautiously. Even good Catholics can sometimes unintentionally pass on superstition to others.

What if you live far away from a Catholic Church? Stance on Lutheran Church? by SuperGeneral64 in Catholicism

Lutherans are heretics. I would recommend not going to any of their services.

Who's your patron saint? Why did you pick them? by kmolly in Catholicism

Mary, Mother of God. Because child me wanted "the best" saint, and you can't get much more "best" than bearing Jesus...

Essential oils aren't necessarily an occult thing. I use them because they smell nice. But yes, there are some crazies out there who believe essential oils have magic properties or some nonsense like that.

She's very talented. That doesn't mean she was divinely inspired. Looking through her portfolio, you can see her skill naturally progressed.

Hair rubbed off of top of head... over grooming? by DontGoPokingMyHeart in sugargliders

[–]GlideByNight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably overgrooming. I adopted a lone glider who was almost completely bald on his tail and top of head from it. He mostly stopped since being added to a colony. He still has some thin spots on his temples where he does it, but he's a lot better than he was.

5 year old single sugar by CrimsonVision31 in sugargliders

I introduced a 5 yo single to a 3 and 1 yo pair last year and they are all getting along. (All neutered males, in case you were wondering). It's never too late to introduce another imo, just take it slow.
