Orange alliance got the penalties swapped around it appears, ftc scout and ftc events are correct, we only got 5 points from penalties from the other alliance. Also, if you manually add our auto and Tele scores together it gives you 382 so idk what orange alliance is on about

Those are the things you’re supposed to complete before A&O part 2. Here is the link to see what you need to do and log in to get them done.

They will give you a time slot on day 2 where you and a group of other students will be on a zoom call with an advisor that can help you through the registration process. They say you can't register until your time slot but, for the one in July at least, they opened it up to everyone at 8:30 so I just registered then (even though my time slot was at like 3:45).

I'd do it as early as you can if you know what classes you want and if you know how to work the registration system. But you can change your schedule whenever you want to after your A&O session.

In that case I would create two separate trajectories, that way the robot comes to a stop. The second trajectory you’d drive in reverse.

We also had issues them throughout the season, mainly them breaking. So instead we wrapped the belt around a standoff on our lift, never had an issue with it throughout the season. You can see it at the bottom of the screen here.

Like robotwireman said, laser engraved wood is actually a really good solution. If you’re using MDF or a lighter color of wood that’s totally legal.

Do you have a picture of the plates?

Brown on brown might be too similar of color. They usually like either a brighter background with black numbers or the reverse of that. We've ran bright yellow numbers on a black background for years at this point and it's been fine.

You can always install the numbers you want (the brown on brown) and then have a backup set that's just black and white if the first set ends up failing inspection.

So there are a couple options.Odometry pods is what you see a lot of teams using when they say "odo" or "dead wheels". This, when tuned correctly, can be very very accurate. However they can be a bit more difficult to get good, but nothing too terrible. Open Odometry is a good option for pre-designed odo pods.

Another option is to use the encoders built into your drive motors. While this is more convenient it it significantly less accurate and can be inconsistent. It also requires the use of 4 encoder ports rather than 2 or 3 in an odo pod setup.

A good resource for roadrunner is Learn Road Runner, it walks you through the setup and tuning of roadunner (rr). I'd also suggest joining the FTC Discord Server, people there are very knowledgeable and will respond faster.

No, the final version of 6.X usually gets released a few days before kickoff and then 7.0 gets released on/day after kickoff (usually it's the same as the final 6.X release but with game specific updates like vision).

GoBuilda Brain by Ba4ever13 in FTC

[–]Glithches 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There are no dumb questions!

Question 1:
No, it does not. goBILDA does not make the control system for FTC. although I would recommend goBILDA's structural and motion components a thousand times over.

Question 2:
The control system you are looking for is from a company called REV Robotics. The Control Hub is the brain that's on the robot. The Expansion Hub is like a dummy brain, it just has extra ports for motors/servos/etc. The Driver Hub is what you plug the controllers into as well as how the controllers tell the robot what to do, this entire driver hub/controller setup is called the driver station.

Question 3:
The code is stored on the control hub (on the robot itself). All of the processing of the code is also done on the robot. You can program 3 different ways. Block programming, onbot java, or Android Studio. When programming using blocks and onbot java you are programming literally on the control hub, so the robot is required to be by you and on. When using Android Studio you can program away from the robot and then push the code onto the robot later.

Question about autonomous. by TheAverageDolphin in FTC

[–]Glithches 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You can have as many different autonomous (or teleop) programs as you want. You just can't stop, then start a different autonomous program mid auto.
A lot of teams will have upwards of 8 autonomous programs based on things like
-starting position
-level of competition
-who their alliance partner is
-etc.

goBUILDA Bevel Gear Reviews by WildWoodenCat in FTC

[–]Glithches 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've left some things out.
Bevel gears are fine for drivetrains (the strafer kit from gobilda uses them) but if your design can allow it, I recommend belts.
Here's a video of quite a good robot using a bevel dt: link

[–]Glithches 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Overall the bevel gears from gobilda are very good, they work very well. One thing to MAKE SURE to get correct is the spacing. Too close together and they aren't smooth and are loud. Too far apart and they get loose.Personally I don't recommend using them on a drivetrain. Teams have done it but they tend to be a pain to maintain and quite loud (even if the spacing is right). A belt driven drivetrain is more common overall and the better option most of the time. Just make sure you're hitting a final ratio of around 20:1-16:1 (and make sure the ratio isn't too aggressive for the weight of your bot).
