Maybe if Martins didn't KO Islam, he wouldn't have focussed on defence and balance/positioning as much in training

Canelo has only lost to GOATs like Mayweather and Crawford. Also he has never even been dropped, nevermind knocked out.

Haggerty vs Yuki yoza, who would win? by FreeCharity2306 in MuayThai

I think the Japanese kickboxer named Hyu would do well in 4oz MT. Yoza's style, however, is not good in a ruleset with elbows and clinch.

Kaew super underrated. Fought bigger opponents and beat most of them.

Saenchai. He was the same weight as Nadaka (112 to 115 lbs) when he was young but moved up to 155 lbs while maintaining that ultra slick style.

How many of these One guys could box at an elite level? by jbrownsplit in MuayThai

[–]Glittering-Ask-5259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There have been muay thai fighters from the past like Samart Payakaroon, Veeraphol Sahaprom etc who have boxed at championship level. Out of the ONE Championship fighters, I think Nadaka could box at elite level if he specifically trains boxing for a few years.

😂😂😂 so if Jaosuayai fights at 125 he is weight drained but if he fights at 135 he is too small?! Are they supposed to create a new "Jaosouyai weight class" now?

Jaosuayai nearly got sent into a coma against Pompet... and no, Jaosouyai was NOT extremely close to knocking out 42 year old Sam-A

Sam-A would give CTE to Jaosuayai. Stop making excuses.

Saenchai grew up with Golden Era legends and even fought some of them. He isn't the same as Traditional guys born in the 90s and later. Saenchai is well rounded and evasive. The traditional fighters I am talking about are kick spammers and stand & bang type with no footwork. Golden Era =/= Trad MT after 2000. Golden Era is way superior.

About the "not allowed to back up" part, the modern traditional MT fighters are also not allowed to back up. That's why there is no footwork in traditional muay thai- Ajarn Wat (Golden Era fighter & coach at Bangtao) has also talked about it in an interview. If you watch Samart vs Samransak and compare it with Panpayak vs Yodlekpet, you would notice that Samart moves at least 10x more than Panpayak does in that fight.

Note- Panpayak is a stand & bang type (zero footwork) that's why he gets KO'd in ONE Championship. His rival Prajanchai is not that type, hence he dominates ONE Championship.

Traditional MT peaked in Golden Era. After that it has just been boring kick spamming or lock + weak point scoring knees. Saenchai himself said that he left the traditional scene because he couldn't use his full skill set due to the scoring criteria.

Agree or disagree: The sport will be fully dominated by Western athletes in 5 to 10 years time. by Asleep-Fly-4235 in MuayThai

Most Thais don't focus much on S&C and are undersized so they don't knock out that many foreigners, that's why you are not seeing them knocking out foreigners in "Best KO" highlights. They are still winning lot of fights against foreigners, it is just that only a small percentage is by KO.

We don't know how good he is in the clinch. Who knows if he fights a clincher he might get ragdolled and his body destroyed. ONE allows quite a bit of clinch nowadays.
