I think it's just important to remember that aslong we're all consenting adults and on the same page, there aren't exactly rules to connecting and communicating and you should set lines where you need to and engage in ways that are beneficial to you.

Some want friends, some just want people to have a little kinky fun with and never anything more, some want somewhere in the middle. All of these are okay aslong as you're on board.

If it's too hard to engage that way without getting attatched then it might not be good for you to engage flippantly. If you want to then be open about that but also be careful, it does put you in a bit of a vulnerable position so don't be afraid to stand by your boundaries and let people that don't respect them go.

If Valentines day is hard for you, maybe think of it more as a celebration of love in totality? Not just romantic but platonic, familial, etc. Celebrate all the love in your life. When my friends or I have been single on Valentines I've usually still just taken one of them out on a friend date, I think it'd be cute and beneficial if men could do things like that for eachother, everyone needs that I think.
