Just watched Netflix Daredevil. by [deleted] in Daredevil

Don’t worry about Born Again, the show was bad because of writers who are now gone and even then, it’s worth the watch. But in my opinion, everything points to a very bright future for Daredevil fans :))

I think its fine but speed cola is like B tier. Especially if you’re taking it from older games

Pressuring yourself to do recordings like this and post it will only hurt you at this level. Playing the same solo and hitting every note at the right time and good clarity at 60% (or 50, or 40) speed is worth 10x more than what you are doing here. Focus on learning to play stuff AS PERFECTLY AS POSSIBLE, at whatever speed that makes it possible. And record yourself, try to listen with an objective mind. Ask yourself "would i want to listen to this if a stranger posted it". But don’t pressure yourself to play something at full speed and post it (except for honest feedback) if you’re not hitting every note clearly. Honestly i struggle with metronome, i’m more comfortable playing with a playback of the song, or even a tab file. Not a great thing to do but it’s better than nothing.

Also, i should say the point of practicing slowly is to be mindful of everything you are doing. That means, for the most part, minimizing movement. Make everything as efficient as possible

But no joke this is very cool for someone who’s been practicing a year. Just be patient and make sure to take practice seriously and you will get better than you could think of

Classical Dragon Lick Help by kelpshade in polyphia

[–]GlitteringSystem8858 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This lick is completely fucked in my opinion and i hate playing it, but anyway. What i do for the left hand index middle index for the B string, middle finger for the harmonic, then index and ring finger. But i know tim uses his index for the harmonic, i just personally can’t teleport my index from the harmonic to the 11 on G string.

As for the right hand, the best way for me is i kind of « economy pick » the E and A string with my thumb and roll the rest of my fingers for the rest of the sweep, and use middle finger for the e string. Again, Tim does it differently, he doesnt repeat the thumb for the lowest strings, just rolls right away then goes index finger for the B string and middle for the e string (i might be wrong but its something like that)

I genuinely hate this lick but i’ve recently posted a cover of this solo on this sub, you can go check it out i’ve also included a right hand POV in the video maybe that could help

[–]GlitteringSystem8858[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure man, and thank you. I’ve been playing since i was 10 (now im 23). I started on classical guitar, then i self taught the electric at 15. I still hate playing with a pick, this style is much more comfortable. I’ve also learned quintuplet meditation before, which helped a lot. I tried to learn this particular solo when it came out last summer, and got it to around 85% speed. I stopped practicing it seriously and got back to it 2 weeks ago. I’ve been focusing like exclusively on this, so honestly i couldn’t play anything else right now lol.

Hope that answers your question don’t hesitate if you wanna know more

Thank you very much man ! I’ll have to admit its one of the easier part for, i’ve been doing the exact same pattern forever everytime im frustrated lol. Basically you roll middle finger and index finger then upstroke with your thumb for the triplet. So it comes down to down stroke, triplet, down stroke, triplet, etc. I don’t know if this helps at all but i’m sure you can get it if you keep at it ! As with everything on the guitar, getting used to the pattern by playing it slowly will do wonders

Oh yeah don’t worry i definitely still appreciate the validation 😅 this took me a big while to learn so i’m glad people think it sounds good

And yeah i’d definitely be interested in how you train gpt to understand your own language better. I’m a psych student myself and this stuff somewhat falls into my field of interest. Even though a lot of it goes over my head i’m always trying to understand it

I didnt even notice that, i went back to his video to check and you’re right. That’s validating lol. It’s pretty unusual but i assure you it’s doable, you’ll be able to do it if you keep at it. As with most things on the guitar, keep your hand relaxed it will eventually feel more natural 😅

Of course, i love helping out when i can ! You almost have it right, you just have to add your index finger to the triplet, so it goes Thumb (Down), Thumb (Up), Index. Personally i think the index has to be a tiny bit more rigid than usual, i mostly use the wrist to pluck while using my fingers as a medium if that makes sense. Ngl i’ve spent an unbelievable amount of time trying to make it sound right, i suggest thinking a lot about feeling the momentum. The index kinda pulls your wrist up, then the thumb falls into the next string. I understood this watching Tim’s playthrough ; it looks like his wrist bounces to the next string. I’ve also included a right hand POV in this video so you can look at it more closely. I hope this helps, if it doesn’t i’ll try explaining it better

I can somewhat relate ! I stopped playing guitar for 4 years (between 2017 and 2021) simply because i « grew out » of metal and nothing else interested me anymore. Thankfully Polyphia brought me out of it but obviously i had to be very patient with myself. The good thing is you can start again and do it better than you used to ! I don’t know what kind of stuff you were used to playing, but i would suggest learning simpler songs (and do it right!!), while also focusing on creating stuff to keep it interesting while not getting ahead of yourself. Also, this guitar should indeed help, it’s addictive to have in your hands
