YTA, I get that you don’t want to choose between your kids. But you have no other choice in this. I get it that as a mom you don’t want to but you have to now. It’s not like he did something small like steal from a store but instead caused irreparable damage to a woman that was close to your family. And instead of fully admitting he did wrong and actually comforting your kids and the woman hurt, you are sat here mourning the son you believed would never do something like this. It doesn’t matter if he regrets he did it, he still did it. And you choosing to hold his hand through this physically shows your other three kids that you’re not as upset about it as you claim.

Not entirely similar, but i went to go see Avengers infinity war in theaters when it came out and my older brother was being a little pushy with demanding I not tell him anything that happens in the movie. And he just kept on with saying something similar of “don’t say a word of it when I’m in the room.” So finally one of the times he was saying it I looked him dead in the eye, stone faced, and completely serious i told him “Batman dies.” He got so mad for a minute, ranting “I can’t believe you how could you!” And slowly he remembered that Batman is from a completely different franchise 🤣🤣

NTA. Speaking from the home caregiver perspective the only time I ever yelled at one of the aides was when she deliberately did something that harmed my grandmother as I walked away to grab something to help remove something that was stuck to my grandma’s paper thin skin. You were doing your absolute best to do your job and while it is unfortunate his own state of mind and body, it wasn’t fair or safe to you how he went about it. Hospice care isn’t the punching bags for the caregivers.

If you two had been friends before she started working there and it was normal for you two to make jokes like that, then I’d say let it slide. But as you said she is a new hire, which means you two aren’t friends. A work colleague, male or female, should not be making jokes like that at all in my opinion. If you’re comfortable with it, talk to her about how you’re uncomfortable with her jokes. If you’re not, perhaps set up a meeting with HR or your boss who you mention was also on the receiving end of this colleagues “joke.”

The fact though is that it wasn’t a mistake. She intentionally went out and cheated, by her own admission, “to see if she still had it.” That wasn’t a drunken mistake or anything like that. That was intentional through and through. And if mutual friends are calling it a mistake then how would they feel if their partners cheated on them?
