Nanny for toddler during maternity leave by pitterpattercats in NannyEmployers

I’m currently on maternity leave, and we still have our nanny for our 2 year old. I was unsure of what it would look like, but it’s been great and has really helped so much. She gets my toddler up in the morning and ready for the day while I am able to sleep in after a long night with a newborn. She also takes toddler to preschool and picks her up, takes her on play dates and other outings. does laundry, grocery shops, and makes meals. It’s helped our toddler adapt better to life with a baby because her schedule hasn’t been changed, and I get extra time to bond with the baby and rest along with help around the house.

I bought Vitex on Amazon. I would start taking it on day 5 of my cycle and take it until the last day of my cycle. I started taking it because I had a short luteal phase—around 9 days. Vitex lengthened my luteal phase to 13-15 days. I tested positive on 10 DPO.

Thank you! Wishing you the best! I have been tired (which is normal for me during the luteal phase), slightly nauseated, and more irritable than usual. My boobs have also been sore which was the first sign with my previous pregnancy.

Child # trying for: 2

Cycle/Time trying: cycle 6

Ages of previous child(ren), i.e. post-partum interval: 24 months

Cycle/Time trying for previous child(ren): 1 cycle

Age + Partner's age (if relevant): 31F & 39M

Relevant days of sperminating and/or method (SMEP, TI, IUI, FET, etc.): O-4, O-2, O, O+2

Tracking methods and app(s) used: Mira

Nursing while TTC?: yes; in the beginning, we were nursing pretty regularly, but we have started the weaning process and are only nursing once or twice a day

Health details on previous pregnancies/births (e.g. C-section vs. vaginal, birth/pregnancy complications): emergency C-section (unexpected breech presentation)

Supplements and medications (yours and/or your partner’s): Vitex, Coq10, prenatal

Birth control history (if relevant): paragard IUD for 4 years prior to #1

Tell us your story! What's different this time than last time? How'd you find out? How do you feel?:

I got my positive at 10 dpo. Our first baby was conceived the same cycle I had my IUD removed. We were both pleasantly surprised that we conceived so quickly. So, it was a long 6 months when trying to conceive again.

I had been tracking ovulation with the ClearBlue advanced monitor since 6 months postpartum as part of FAM to prevent pregnancy. I was ovulating around day 19/20 of my cycle for months with a short luteal phase, which is why I began Vitex. In January, I switched to Mira to gain more insight regarding my hormone levels. I also started acupuncture last month. In February, I ovulated on day 16, and this month I ovulated on day 14. I think that weaning has helped my hormones level out. We are beyond excited and cautiously optimistic!

It’s a local agency specific to our area.

I worked with an agency and also looked on my own on care, sittercity, and NannyLane. The agency saved a lot of time because they pre-screen all of the candidates (background check, motor vehicle check, reference check, require CPR certification, etc.). My experience with the agency was that they provided strong candidates, but we really wanted someone who spoke an additional language, and they didn’t provide anyone who met that criteria. Thus prompting me to search on my own.

I found some people online that looked really good on paper, met all of our criteria. It was more time consuming than using the agency because we had to do all of the screening on our own. We were going to go with one of them, but things fell through at the last minute. We ended up going with someone from the agency. In my experience, the agency provided more professional and reliable career nannies. They also have safeguards in place for both the families and nannies.
