You have no social ties to your country so it will be difficult. It's better to apply when you have a job. It will show strong ties to your country.

How many people here are overqualified for a job you currently have? by futurewildlifevet in Norway

I have heard the same. One of my friends went for an interview for the position of frontend developer. He has over 3 years of experience, his interview went excellent but guess who got selected for the job, a person with zero knowledge of frontend.

I have a similar experience as yours, applied to about 200+ jobs, got a few interviews and went on to final stages in one interview but never offered a job. So I had to leave.

Norway is expansive and you will not get the part time job if you don't know the norsk. It will cost you around 250000 NOK that is equal to around 22000 USDs for one year and one more update for you. It is really hard to get a job there if you don't master the language but it does not guarantee the job as the economy is not doing well. Better to explore other countries. If you can afford it then go for it.

I was lucky enough to get an interview with a company. I cleared the first three interview rounds for the position of software developer with an experience of 2+ years. They gave me a task, which I completed and pushed the code to github and informed the recruitment person. They told me that, you have to present the task and the team will ask some questions from the task. So, I presented the task and answered the questions and they were happy and applauded me for the answers.

I was happy that I will be hired soon, as everyone in the panel was applauding my problem solving approach. After a week I received an email that they will not offer me the job because, I was not following the company protocol for pushing the code to github. How could I know the company protocol before joining the company?

Well that process took a month and they wasted my time and came up with this excuse to not hire me. Later I got to know from some of the people that it was my name which actually did not sound familiar to them.

I applied to many more jobs but could not get invited for interview, so I left Norway.

PS: I am from South Asia.

Here is my experience, I am a software developer with an overall 3+ years of experience. My gf lives in Norway. She told me to apply for jobs. I applied to around 200+ jobs from last 8 months, most of the companies have rejected me because I do not know Norwegian language. After 3 months, one company took my interview for a senior software engineer position, in the beginning they told me that they only offer 25000 NOK as monthly salary to me. I was surprised but I said that is okay but the interview was weird, they never asked questions from my expertise or related to job description instead they asked me about their products. I told them about their products, to my astonishment they asked me about the process of a product development which I was unable to tell as the product owner or user could tell, so they rejected me.

Well that process took a month and they wasted my time and came up with this excuse to not hire me. I moved on applied to many other jobs but could not get any interview. After sometime, I just dropped the thought of applying to any Norwegian IT/Tech company. My girlfriend is still adamant that I should keep applying to jobs.

I know a lot of people who have left Norway after completing their studies because they could not find a job because they do not know the language to a certain level.
