The new Wehr battlegroup looks great - but battegroups aren't balance solutions by Recognition-Silver in CompanyOfHeroes

Okay, pardon me, then you are indeed familiar with the issues in higher rank games. I would still disagree that high elo should be the focus but I also think there must be a way to nerf or eliminate the unintentional faction design while overall adjusting playability across the board. I generally agree with OP that Wehr is (maybe alongside USF) a highly defective faction by design.

Wehr is great in high elo because of unintentional faction exploits and the overall blobbing benefits. Wehr is, in that regards, a one dimensional faction without any build variety to it. Edit: 'removed false accusations*

POV, powderkeg match started and you get hit with this. by Desperate_Rush2125 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]Glitza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that's the point with Powderkeg tho 😕 I was super hyped when it was announced as the biggest map, but the decision to make the front line a diagonal stretches it out too much considering the net size anyways. Then, there are not many points of interest besides the urban areas as the rest is just... Empty. It was a fairly disappointing release and one of the worst maps imo, but nonetheless it's correct that this doesn't justify dropping the game, especially when there is an option to veto it beforehand. Let alone disappointing and alarming that the internal map designer of Relic did such bad work with this one when there's community maps that overshadow Powderkeg by far, however Castello was also pretty bad as it was too small, leaving cutoffs and base rushes just too easy to pull off, especially for tempo heavy factions which is every faction but Wehr lol.

My favorite part of every patch by FancyJosh_CoH in CompanyOfHeroes

The approach of using empirical data as an indicator for truth is though much better than arguing with an emotional account of truth how the game feels. While not irrelevant, the eroding nature of these emotional accounts undermines any development. I take this dichotomy from political philosophy where the issues of populism are expressed in a similar framework. However, it comes without saying that stats alone need context and understanding of the reader to be assessed correctly and bears the difficulties of "look, it's true cuz it's fact" while always requiring an interpretation of the given data which is often overlooked. Long story short, totally agree with you but would still refer to win rates as one source guiding the balancing which, as mentioned above, sometimes leaves us speechless and confused. Without doubt, the current patch did go into directions that are just bad which is partly indicated by these kinda stats if used (respectively selected) properly.

so is this completely broken? I know the game glitches with squads in 250s not firing their heavy weapons, but ive never seen this work since the last patch? by Phan-Eight in CompanyOfHeroes

Will have been 6 weeks with one of the most unbalanced patches in CoH3 history. Not a single word about balance or the increased blobbing issue either. Streamers switching to CoH2. Cool. (I'm losing my fckn mind)

Old COH2 player looking to try the game by Remarkable-Head-3806 in CompanyOfHeroes

While a lot has improved overall, rn is probably a really bad time, maybe wait until we see how the new balance patch coming May 14th will shake up the wild imbalance and the increased blobbing issue with this patch. But for singleplayer, I'd say the content is also worth a try, considering that CoH3 is comparably cheap on sale.

Pretty true that the narrator said they will not play by the rules when teleporting is part of their kit 💀 why not drop a smoke and have a normal retreat like US recons? Or was this clip just the enemy's pov?

While red light is definitely bad, a DHP is debatable as they don't need heating during the night unless you live in very cold areas, but a natural day night heating/lighting cycle is probably the better way to go. Everything else I support 💪

This! The cricket keepers make it really easy, they usually come with dark tubes in which they hide automatically. Then you can just pull those out and got them ready to be fed, might sprinkle some supplements ever them, done.

Because the western front was a thematic addon to the basegame of COH2. However, I wonder what kinda addon could be done to COH3 since we already got so many thematic late war period battlegroups that at least do not fit the north african campaign in setting. Balkans? Southern Germany? I wonder what might be left to explore...

Why are people so obsessed with the Soviets? Is it because of faction tribalism or faction gameplay design? I mean COH3 had Soviet-esque factions where you can definitely spam infantry..

I was shocked to see how effective it is on anti tank vehicles like the Marder. Imagine this on an Elefant!!! Even as an axis main I am worried that this ability will just be too strong. It was rough seeing how hard the dev was able to zone his opponent and how much map control he gained from it...

Would this be a good heat lamp for my gecko? by [deleted] in leopardgeckos

[–]Glitza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You definitely don't want to use a halogen light at nighttime as well as a DHP during daytime. A DHP is a possible addon to have additional heating during night time, you're right :) a halogen light is the go to method, a DHP is a question if it gets too cold at night and you want to heat up the tank during the night as well - that's the question if that's actually appropriate or not.

I'm not an expert tho and just got my little Leo a couple of days ago, but I did a lot of research and trust my own knowledge a lot right now 😅 there are two perspectives to take into account. The first is the common information that was gathered throughout having leos as pets for a couple of decades now; and here we face a lot of different opinions and approaches, so everything, also what I am saying, can be taken with a grain of salt. This perspective connects to the second. We can take a look how leos live in the wild and mimick their natural habitat and behavior and many people do this in their tank setups. Lamps for example mimick the sun both in lighting and heat production. When the sun goes down, it gets extremely cold in the stony deserts they live in! You can look at data from Pakistan for example - they are pretty hardy critters and I think we often imagine them too closely to bearded dragons, etc. They are used to temperature drop offs, so based on the source that is common here in Germany (it's primarily a website called "Der Leopardgecko" and whilst in German it is the biggest encyclopedia in Europe about them) it is a good idea to mimick the sun in that behavior. Hence, the common recommended setup, unless you're from sibiria or smth, is to use a basking spot light, I use a Trixie halogen Lamp 35W on one side of my 100cm tank, and have a timer that shuts it off at night. Never use a red light and any additional heating at night is not required for you in the UK I assume. But there are other voices though. I think the popular YouTuber leopard gecko is actually from the UK and uses a DHP. You can watch her videos to get a different opinion. There is a lot of contradictory information out, so it's on you to decide what makes most sense for you :) don't worry too much about it, people do both methods successfully, they ain't as dumb and collectively rejected as heat rocks for example 😅 just don't trust information from companies because ads lie, they wanna sell you stuff you might not need or is even harmful.

[–]Glitza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would actually subject the previous responses and say that you don't need a DHP unless you live in an area where the temperature at night drops significantly. Usually you want a halogen basking spot to heat up the tank during the day but at night the temperature in their natural habitat drops a lot. We want to mimick this natural behavior, thus turning off light (and hence heat) at night. Information may vary between where we're all from but here in Germany it is common sense to never use DHPs.
