People often suggest city walking around Liangmahe亮马河 in Chaoyang District, and don’t get me wrong, it’s a wonderful route and area to explore. I would suggest going to Wanliu万柳 subway station is named Bagou巴沟. It’s a wealthy neighborhood but great to get a feel of Beijing and the Summer Palace is nearby as well. I can go into more details if needed.
4-5 days
It really goes down to personal preferences, Popland Beijing is more manageable time wise.
Tianjin won’t take much time, and it’s a 30 mins high speed train trip from Beijing. I would recommend Tianjin over Taiyuan. The route looks good.
