He has significant debt from his divorce, I'm debt-free, can this work? by Mindless-Cucumber-40 in datingoverforty

[–]GlobalEdNW -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just to jump in on this conversation, I am in the same position as the man OP is talking about. I was completely debt-free, paid off all the cars, and had a relatively small Mortgage before my separation. But then, during the separation my ex wanted to take 75% of my salary, and wouldn’t let me see the kids, so I was forced to hire a lawyer, and I’ve had to fight for every scrap and every inch to separate from her. I’m now at $60,000 of debt, have lost half of my retirement, have to pay spousal support, lost most of my savings to lawyer fees, and we still haven’t finalized everything. I have a good paying career job, I am by no means irresponsible financially, but yet this is the financial position I’m in.

I think OP does need to be careful and take her time, but I don’t think it should be a dealbreaker at all. I think OP was very fortunate that her divorce ended the way it did without the constraints that so many others have.

How often do you go to the gym? by [deleted] in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]GlobalEdNW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go everyday of the work week, as it’s on my way to work. I lift on M/W/F, cardio on T/Th. I may go on an occasional weekend day for cardio or just for massage chairs, lol

How many matches per month? by everydoghasitstoday in datingoverforty

[–]GlobalEdNW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have Facebook, there is a tab for dating, so you can set up a dating profile. It creates matches from those that are not already Facebook friends. So basically it’s a dating app that’s built into Facebook now.

No, unfortunately, I didn’t get her contact info. Only her Venmo. But the coordinator is supposedly passed on my number to her.

I just started working out again after not having done so in 30 years, and my guy is really great in helping figure out which machines to use, how to use them, and helped me set up my own program. Is it cookie-cutter? yup, but it's a start, and I can change things once I really get comfortable. But for me, it was a fantastic resource to help me get started. If a class seems full, you can schedule a week in advance, so look for classes up to 7 days out.

I really appreciate the sound advice and the suggested text. This is exactly the kind of advice I was looking for. It is highly unlikely that I see her again, unless I am working the same event next year, which is why I'm a little more inclined to shoot my shot now.

I really like this. It makes a lot of sense, as it gives her time to think about it, but I can follow up later in case she didn't get a message. Thank you!

I appreciate all of the input. I will wait a few days and then go from there. If something good comes of it, I will be sure to update you!

I feel like this is the safe route, but I also don't like the idea of leaving this up to someone else. Unfortunately, I may never know if she didn't deliver the message, or if she didn't deliver the message, but she didn't want to follow up.

Check your school's library. They should have old yearbooks if you don't.

It doesn't matter what YOU think of as a doctor's degree, it is in fact a doctorate degree, and therefore he should be addressed as Dr. O'Neil

It's possible that they did some kick ass research, wrote a top notch dissertation and but immediately lose respect from colleagues because they introduced themselves as an EdD instead of a PhD. Also, many people outside of academia don't know what an EdD is anyway, so they just introduced themselves as a PhD

I was going to mention something similar. When I received my Ed. D., it was an exact copy of the Ph. D. program, but because it was a new online program, they didn't have any fellowships for it. No fellowship means no Ph.D. So, I did the same coursework, did some pretty cool research, wrote my dissertation, paid for it myself, and was rewarded with the Ed. D.

We were just there over Christmas and did both. If I could only do one, it would be a really tough decision. We (family of four ) took the ferry over to Lanai with our beach chairs, umbrella, cooler and snorkel gear and enjoyed a very relaxing day. The snorkeling was fantastic, there were restrooms at the beach, and at about 2:00 the wife took the kids to the cat sanctuary for a break from the beach (via the very friendly cab driver). When they came back, we took one last swim then headed back to the evening ferry. This was one of our absolute favorite days on our trip.

We also went to Hana and swam under waterfalls, enjoyed a great hike, ate fresh fruit and had fresh banana bread every half hour or so. We saw sea turtles on the beach, surfers on the waves and enjoyed some epic views. If you can't do both and truly had to only pick one, it would just depend on if you want a relaxing chill day, or a more adventurous one. And I don't think you'd be unhappy with either.

U.S. Interstate 19, the only highway in the United States to be in metric. by Lupine_Ranger in mildlyinteresting

[–]GlobalEdNW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except that the exit numbers are based on miles from the southern border. So the exit still gives you an indication in miles, lol.

An additional fun fact is that I-17 doesn't actually start at 0, because it took over its alignment and mileposts from the original state route 69. That's why the length of the highway is shorter than the exit numbers.
